This is one trend I could not pass up. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you've been living in a cave.Here's the lowdown: [link]
I've always wanted to do this type of thing. This community project just gave me the inspiration to get on it.
The character is a jazzed-up version of me. Yes, his name is Gene Machine. Yes, he's fast and has a lot of will. That's about it. His attack is not great, but his speed more than makes up for it. Those robotic arms are the only reason he has any attack power at all.
You all recognize the jacket, but the newsboy cap is something new that I've been wearing lately. I don't know if it will last in my wardrobe, but it's currently one of my favorite things to wear. I got a bit of a steampunk thing going on in the pic, too.

Yeah, this one is kind of dying out.
Once the 11 year olds try to get on the bandwagon with their terrible drawings in Paint, you know the trend is dead.

Good work on the pixel guy! :3 (I can't do those very well lol) For the close up, one thing I noticed was that your shading is pretty blurred in the face and it looks a little odd that way. When the color contrasts that much it usually looks better to make a clean line where it's in dark shadow, and a blurred color that very slowly gets dark. >_< I don't want to tread on your style or anything, it's just my opinion and what I've observed shading and looking at how other people pull it off.
