Omg this is amazing. Such a wholesome "awww" inducing scene!
"Kiss the cook" apron is something my mother always wore in the kitchen, I thought I was the only one!Β

Unless it's surface recon duty, and in that case she's already got a head start.Β Even so, maybe Section 8 can bring on Butler for some outside work.

Geez...by this time, I have to wonder about some things.
Foaly: "Humans have come into contact with the People again!"
Holly: "And?"
Foaly: "Yeah, you're right, I think the LEP brass stopped caring after the ninetieth time...or maybe after the forty-seventh time an elf or sprite got citizenship in one of those countries..."
Holly: "Or when you got tenure at MIT?"
Foaly: "They may have been behind the technology curve but damn if they have my kind of creative bent."

DolphinSilverwolf In reply to iesnoth [2015-10-05 09:02:37 +0000 UTC]
Could get a little tricky...
Foaly: "Wait...you're saying...if we induce the gift of tongues in humans..."
Artemis: "It's the concession I would ask the council to make.Β And it would have to be voluntary on an individual basis."
Holly: "Interesting...I can see if humans could talk to dolphins..."
Foaly: "They're not going to go for it without some kind of proof of good will at the very least."
Artemis: "What about reactivating ITER?Β The international thermonuclear experimental reactor?"
Foaly: "That rustbucket?Β Don't make me laugh..."
Artemis: "Foaly, the energetic yield would put any powerplant in the lower elements to shame."
Foaly: "I KNOW, I KNOW!!!Β Look, I'm having a hard enough time thinking there's one human as smart as I am.Β And if you keep sledgehammering my ego it'll be harder to put it on the shelf!"
Twilight Sparkle: "Hi Foaly!"
Foaly: "D'arvit!"
Artemis: "Oh yeah, and we'd been using the cloning technology to help bring back previously extinct species.Β TUrns out in the later generations they established full minds and sentience.Β Turns out there's some transuniversal effects..."
Foaly: "If you don't mind, I'm going to get very, very drunk..."
Mulch: "First round's on me!"

I never really liked Artemis/Holly. Mostly because she would quickly outlive him and I just didn't see them getting together

I'm indifferent about the pairing, but if Artemis wanted to be with her, I think he would find away to get around the aging thing. He's stolen magic before, I don't doubt he could do it again.

there is no way holly would be a stay at home mom.
Arty would be able to do the computer work from the manor or in a lab below ground, giving him dad time.

I do not know what you are referring to as weird, but IΒ am not susceptibleΒ to feeble emotions such as lust or romance. Such things are foolish in my eyes. I do not like it when people make two characters from a story have feelings for each other that are non-existant. Β
π: 0 β©: 1
RigelIsUnappreciated In reply to Bookexpert [2014-04-13 01:58:17 +0000 UTC]
Oh, man, I didn't mean it like that.Β Β I'm just referring to the sort of feeling of slight amusement I get when someone says that two people are just friends when I see them as a couple. I personally see it as quite the "I won't say I'm in love" situation, but I understand if you don't. After all, everyone has different interpretations of the material, eh?
π: 0 β©: 0
iesnoth In reply to Bookexpert [2013-04-04 17:11:45 +0000 UTC]

fanglish In reply to iesnoth [2012-12-16 12:27:32 +0000 UTC]
If it is anything like Tolkein's (the first and most successful example) I suspect the baby would have more human traits that elfish: Shorter lifespan compared to elves, taller, and with little to no magical ability (Opal a pixie-human hybrid lost her magic).
But who needs magic when he/she has brains of Artemis Fowl himself?
π: 0 β©: 2
RigelIsUnappreciated In reply to fanglish [2014-03-30 02:51:41 +0000 UTC]
Sorry about my lack of nerd-i-ness, but isn't Elrond half-human? And wasn't be really, really elvish?Β
π: 0 β©: 1
fanglish In reply to RigelIsUnappreciated [2014-04-14 04:48:58 +0000 UTC]
Well, Both Elrond and Elros were technically Half-ELven (Their parents were the actual Half-Elves*), that is until the end of the First Era when the Half-Elves were given a choice: Become Firstborn or become Mortal. Elros became human and Elrond became an Elf (along with their parents).
Β So... Nah, Elrond you see in the LotR is indeed as elf as those born elves.
*: Not sure about the mother though....
Somehow I don't feel all that proud for being the bigger nerd here... I wonder why? ^Ω^
