PHOTOSENSITIVTY WARNING! Contains quick flashing lights that may cause seizures or epilepsy.
Part 2 of my (hopefully, not so short) journey into hand drawn frame by frame animation! (Part 1 here )
It's Neon again! This time, doing her signature attack, Neon Strobe. It's a move that allows her to use her lights to hack into robots. It has a big (and unneeded) wind up and it leaves her open for a little while. She is pretty smart and crafty, but it still takes quite a little bit of time for her to figure out how to fiddle around with her targets' heads. And the effects she can do may differ from target to target. ^^
So about the work on this... I was going to do a running animation first, but I thought I'd do something a bit bolder instead. Still choppy as hell, and has a lot of sloppy inconsistencies... but I actually like how this turned out.
And I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. This has significantly more frames than my first one, but I almost finished it at the same time. Though I DID work on the first too slow. I think I draw normal pics faster, and I already draw those SLOW. 
Hopefully, the next ones will be much better and would be finished faster.

Maybe that'd be her equivalent to Sol Badguy's Dragon Install, or Ryu's Satsui no Hado?
She'd get a big speed/strength boost once her animation's finished.

As cool as that sounds... nah. One of her main things is having little to no combat abilities of her own, so buffing herself's a bit out of theme. ^^

Oh gosh, I love everything about this animation. Her twirl captures a lot of energetic jubilant whimsy feel to it... followed by that deathstare to punctuate the end. It's great. You did a nice job animating a complicated motion though!

That's a pretty scary thing. When I was doing the strobe animation, I was saying to myself repeatedly... "don't forget the flashing lights warning... don't forget the flashing lights warning". XD

Thank you! For the strobe part... I was just alternating the bands black then white, while also alternating the lighting from front to back. I didn't expect it to turn out like that. Interesting surprise. ^^

First off, you say there are lots of inconsistencies but honestly she seems pretty on model for the whole animation, which is crazy difficult on a full rotation. like before it could use more inbetween frames just to help with how easily it is to read the motion also I notice it holds a bit on the turn (frames 6 and 7) I like the movement in her glowsticks there but if you want it to me smooth you don't need both frames, or if you want her to deliberately slowing down then you might need a couple more frames there to illustrate this.
Great use of 'motion blur', like I said I love the movement in the glow sticks especially in the landing, it's subtle but adds a lot. The lighting and screen shake are a nice touch.
all in all it's pretty rad work, and you definitely onto something.

I wanted 6 and 7 to hang a bit. With only the little bits still moving forward. I tried slowing the frames down, but then it looked too choppy. Yeah, I think a few more frames should make it look okay. I think it needs more frames in the middle of the spin too. Specifically, when she turns her back to us. That part looked pretty skippy. @___@
And I didn't expect the "motion blur" to work like that! First time I tried it. It blew my mind how effective it was.

it's all a learning process, but a rule of thumb, adding frames is better than 'slowing' the frames. I animate on twos (12 frames per second) for my video intros and I wound't recommend anything less than that. And motion blur is supper effective I mean look at Smears in traditional animation. It's amazing how much our brains fill in the blanks haha. but dude it's a crazy solid foundation the next animation will be amazing
