well, it WAS an overcast day, heh heh, it's been raining here, literally, for weeks....
normally i go for high contrast and/or high saturation...
i have about 5,000 shots of this tree by itself, check through my gallery
and i have some shots of the second tree by itself, i think this is the only image i have that ties 'em both together
taken the same day: [link]
the second tree in the shot at night from a different angle, long exposure: [link]
same night, long exposure, my tree, with a flash pop about halfway through the exposure: [link]
with kodak EIR infrared slide film, various filters/exposures to test the false color IR film:

a reverse angle composite shot, one exposure made for the sunset, a second exposure made for the land: [link]
high contrast monochrome: [link]
the orig. as shot image: [link]
ok, i lied, they're both in this one too, wow, oddly composed much like the one we're commenting on actually... this one taken in winter though: [link]
ok, i was actually slightly more zoomed in (25mm as opposed to 22mm) in the new image than i was in this last linked on... but i was standing closer.....
speaking of closer:

the second tree again.... i had to kneel in the snow to get this one: [link]
not too crazy about this one: [link]
this one's a bit better, not much though: [link]
crappy exposure, but i saw this random person walking on the rocks and waited for the shot: [link]
taken not long after i got the DRebel last year, my 101st shot with it actually: [link]
the grass looks like shit 'cause it's March in new england, heh heh

i could put a book together with *just* shots of this tree in different seasons/conditions/angles
