Description

Here is a little April O’Neil redesign I sketched like 4 years ago and finally colored (plus a Karai). These aren’t quite the colors I want, but with the pens I have this is close enough.
She’s got a little bit of all my favorite versions of April in there, and ever since I saw the original comics where she has dark skin, I’ve wished we could see her like that but still with red hair and freckles. I like the idea that she’s a reporter, but she didn’t just study writing and journalism in school; she’s got all kinds of science degrees as well as anthropology/archaeology. She has the antique shop too, and it has gotten her interested in all kinds of mythology and history subjects. Plus, she knows how to fight. April is basically Indiana Jones.
In my head, she’s about 22 when she meets the Turtles (they probably all kinda have a little crush on her at first, but she really becomes their big sister), and soon after that they all meet Casey Jones. I haven’t drawn him yet, but I’m feeling like Casey will be about 24 and a combo of some of the cartoons and Elias Koteas (actor from the first and third Live-action movies).
Karai there is older than them both, like 27 or so. She’s got some of the 2007 CGI movie in there, plus the 2003 cartoon and the 2012 cartoon (mostly her nose. speaking of noses, Casey’s is gonna be crooked and have a bump in it from getting broken a couple times). I won’t too into all the different ideas and my favorite things for a TMNT story here, maybe once I have everybody drawn up
