TO OPERATE FLIPPING BOOK, CLICK AND DRAG THE BOTTOM CORNERS OF THE PAGES!When the book "closes", you're at the end.
Gosh, I hope I'm not too late submitting this! Fingers crossed and all that! I did manage to get the pages e-mailed to the judges yesterday, though, so I hope that's all fine.
This round was Halloween themed, so I decided to do it in "Burton Vision" - basically, adding a ton of Burton to my style and changing the outfits of the lovely ladies appearing in this round to something which he might concievably dream up in that crazy and fantastical mind of his!
Hoping you all like Princess Sailor Eris, and hoping everyone featured likes their new look! If anyone else wants me to draw their senshi Burton-ified, I could probably be persuaded for an art trade.
ALSO, I thought I'd let all of you SMOCT-ers know how my cameoing works:
I love ALL your characters, no joke, which makes it impossible to decide which ones to include! So what I've decided to do is to simply give a cameo for a cameo. Basically, that means that if you give me a cameo, I promise to give you one back next round. And if it's a big one, I'll probably draw you something to boot.
Sailor Dark Matter belongs to ~Kibate
Sailor Rozaria belongs to *Valendra
Sailor Earth belongs to *oasiswinds
And the adorable Sailor Halcyon belongs to ~OtteroftheEraser
Also, did you know that cockroaches are so poison resistant that one of the only really effective ways of killing them is boric acid, which dries them out rather than poisons them?
ALSO, urchin poison has a lot of very unpleasant effects, and one of them is, in fact, fainting.

I looove 'burton vision'. I love How Sailor H is kind of working with Sailor DM on this, it adds a lot to the story. The story in this comic is really good, the battle scene had some amazing high points. There was a lot of give and take which added a lot to the comic as a whole. Everyone was drawn really well, even though it wasn't your usual style. This really is amazing, keep up the GREAT work I can't wait to see your round three entry!

Since Sailor Halcyon is my enemy the next round, i wanted to ask what exactly happened to her after this fight? Eris somehow...trapped her, right? What then? How does she get out? Does she remain "dark"?

I left it open on purpose so that Otter could either leave Halcyon dark or have her go back to normal.

I havn't had the chance to read it the, but i love the drawings, especially Eris's clothing. You should work for Tripp or Hot Topic, they need some cool clothing designs like yours. I love the ripped stockings and the shredded jacket. Also the wrought-iron apple is incredible, you have an eye for details.

okay, so i just read it. I have a list so be prepared. I love that you choose halcyon to be the against to Eris, (this is to i love that you didn't take the obvious route and make her gold and blatantly winged, I also love that you made her hair color a toned down white gold color) I love Dizzy's angelic form, it's very beautiful. I also love Eris's pale and classic beauty. The story is also very well written, and the Burton-Vision is genius (i love the cell borders) I love this in general

First, your style, Burton-Vision and otherwise is fantastic. It sets you and your art apart from everyone else. Second, your story-telling style is phenomenal. I rarely actually read comics, but your art caught my attention and your story drew me in. Finally, the use of flipping pages is great. How did you make them flip?

Oh man. I'm screwed. XD I love this! It's so pretty and well drawn and the story is great and GAH. XP Evil! Halcyon's characterization is spot on and I like the idea of her working for DarkMatter as a hitman of some sort.

Super pretty as usual. I love that you took the time to redesign everyone. The whole plot with Dark Matter is great, too!
The only thing is that the end is really sudden. I feel like there should at least be something there saying "tbc" or "the end."

UNFORTUNATELY, two things prevent that: first, there's not really enough for a whole other page without making things look soppy, and second, this flipping book requires an even number of pages to work. Adding just one more saying "the end" would make the number uneven.

As always, the art is super amazing! everybody looks great. If I make it to the next round, there will be a strong temptation to give Eris a cameo out of pure selfishness for the awesome art, lol.
Overall the panel layout is pretty good, but it can be a bit tight/hard to follow in a couple spots. In the page where Halcyon uses "Sand Erosion", the panels are really narrow and I can't tell what's happening in a lot of them, especially in the one where Halcyon herself is attacking.
On the "Pressure Subjugation" page it's also kind of a big jump between the top panel and the bottom panel--it's not really clear how or why Eris is on top of Halcyon. I kind of do that myself, though... so maybe I shouldn't say anything... ¬.¬
Finally, may I humbly suggest a different page turning mechanism? It's a big clumsy, having to drag my cursor across the screen when I want to turn the page

Aaah. The thing is, I figured that considering Eris was the one coming at Halcyon shoulder first in the first place, it wouldn't be too surprising that she wound up on top! And I didn't want to draw a whole hissy cat fight - it's clumsy, unflattering, and really doesn't look good in a comic. Not like crazy martial arts. At the same time, considering Eris is a princess, has trouble with her leg muscles, and wearing heels, I didn't want her judo kicking Halcyon or whatnot. So all in all, I figured this was the best option.
Thanks for the crit on the Sand Erosion bit - I do want to be creative re: how I express things, so it was a test. It looks good to me, but I know what's supposed to be happening, so I'm probably not the best judge.

Possibly, though it's a great chance for a little bit of humor, if Eris is indeed the type to engage in a catfight to begin with. X)
You could make the corner animate to turn without actually having to drag the page, perhaps? It's not the graphical appearance that I find difficult, just the actual mechanism of having to drag with the cursor. It may partially be because I'm on a laptop and using a track pad (I imagine it is not as onerous on a mouse.) Either way, if you like it, by all means keep it.
