Happy 30th Anniversary Battra!!! 🦋💛 ❤

Godzilla vs Mothra, Battra's debut film, was released on December 12th 1992, meaning that today is Battra's 30th anniversary! Because of that I wanted to make a special drawing for him, so I ended up making a redraw of one of the screenshots from his imago transformation from the film

Battra is unironically up in my top 5 favorite Godzilla Kaiju and honestly I still haven't figured out why. Maybe because of his close relationship with Heisei Mothra (which is my favorite incarnation of her), maybe because of his flashy design, maybe because of personality and story, maybe because of how much fun I have writing and imagining him in stories, scenarios and dynamics, or maybe it's a mix of all of them. Either way, Battra is and always has been kinda special to me and I have always been eager to see him more in Godzilla related media. Really wonder when him and all of the other "original" Heisei Kaiju like Biollante, SpaceGodzilla and Destoroyah will appear in new films (I put original in parenthesis since well none of them are really all that original since they were all based off of existing Kaiju, but I still love them all nonetheless). I believed that since I consider myself somewhat of a big Battra fan it would be worth to draw something for his anniversary since it's been 30 years since he's been around and I just wanted an excuse to draw him since I enjoy drawing him lol

I've been meaning to make a redraw of his transformation scene for a while mostly since it's probably my favorite scene from Godzilla vs Mothra and I find it somewhat scary to an extent, and this was basically the perfect opportunity. As you can see this drawing is pretty much symmetrical except I drew this without using the symmetry tool at all because: 1. I looked through the entirety of Medibang's setting and I swear to dear God I could not find the symmetry tool at all so I gave up looking for it; and 2. The last time I did use the symmetry tool for a drawing the result was... extremely messy to say the least, so I've always copy-pasted one side and mirrored it to make the other side instead because that proved to work a lot better for me and I feel like this drawing really proves that. It may not be 100% symmetrical, but as I said I did not use the actual symmetry tool at all so it isn't perfectly symmetric, but that's fine. It looks fine for the most part and it also proves that I went for a more traditional way rather than using a tool, not saying that using a tool to make drawing easier is a bad thing (unless the "tool" in question is A*I because that's not even art anymore), I'm just saying that I sometimes prefer using more traditional ways when it comes to ME SPECIFFICALLY drawing certain things, that's all.

I had a lot of fun drawing this piece. Always glad working with red or hot pink. I love doing lightning effects so I had a lot of fun here. The background may not be the best but I tried. Still trying to get better at drawing water, tho I'm more used to drawing water with hints of blue so that's probably why it looks more odd here. I overall like how this one turned out and I'm really proud of it. Really something worth Battra's anniversary

I apologize for not posting that much this month. December is usually a busy month with school and besides that I've been playing Genshin a lot lo. I will try to get some more stuff out soon, especially Christmas or winter themed art
