Description This was really just a sketch I made for funsies but I actually liked it so I decided to render it lol

So for those that may not know already, Gigan actually appeared in the concept art for KOTM, during Godzilla's alpha roar  . Originally some Toho Kaiju were supposed to get cameos in KOTM and Gigan was one of them, but that idea never went through since that would mean that Legendary would have to pay even more to acquire the rights for siad Kaiju and they already had to pay a lot for the big 5 who have already been in the MV so they couldn't afford to pay even more just for a few cameos so the idea got scrapped. Still I was always fascinated over the fact that Gigan appeared in the KOTM concept art and was actually really interested in the design he had in there. I do personally want Gigan in the MV, although I'd rather have him appear a bit later on, since I feel like he needs a bit more build-up first. I would be really happy if they used the concept art design or a design similar to the one shown in the concept art for him MV iteration tho, and I'll explain why.

In Gigan's previous movie appearances (not counting Godzilla vs Gigan Rex since that one is a bit more different), Gigan has noticeably had a similar build to Godzilla's, with the only difference being that Gigan would be slightly thinner than Godzilla. This is because Gigan is meant to be a match for Godzilla. Gigan's fighting style heavily relies on his weaponry, that being his blades and buzz-saw. He needs to get really close to Godzilla in order to be able to attack him, so it makes sense for the two to have similar body builds, since they both have to get really close to each other while being able to resist each other's attacks and fight back. In the MonsterVerse, Godzilla is a literal tank. He's massive, muscular and bulky, and the KOTM concept art of Gigan shows him to be rather bulky as well, so what I said earlier could also be applied to the MV. With both monsters having similar builds, in this case both being massive and bulky, they are basically on equal ground now, each being able to fight against each other from up close. I know most people would prefer MV Gigan to be slimmer and more agile, but agility was never really one of Gigan's main traits and that wouldn't really help him against MV Godzilla since again, he has to get really close to him in order to attack him. If MV Gigan would be slim he'd easily get crushed by Godzilla who as I said is a literal tank. This is why I believe the idea of MV Gigan being bulky would work best for him, given the way he fights against Godzilla.

The reason why I drew him was because MV Gigan happened to be on my mind for the past few days since I really like thinking about him and theorizing things related to him, so I made some doodles on paper and then a digital sketch which I ended up polishing (that being this drawing). I wanted it to resemble the concept art, since I liked this sinister vibe he had in the concept art. He is for the most part obscured and you can only see his silhouette. You know it's Gigan, yet you still have a hard time seeing him. This is a completely different design of him never-before seen, so it makes you start asking questions. It's so familiar yet so strange. I'd say it works really well with Gigan's alien origin. Aliens are always tied with the unknown, since well we don't know much about them, we don't even know if they even exist, so Gigan being obscured in the concept art works perfectly with his mysterious alien origins. I wanted to keep the same kind of feeling for my artwork, but I wanted him to still be more visible. It's a somewhat less obscured version of the concept art. You can actually see him now, but that won't stop you from asking the same questions, since he still is rather obscured, with the only sense of familiarity being his bright red visor. We know it is Gigan, yet we still don't know all that much about this Gigan. He is new. He is unknown. He will only become visible once his time comes, but for now he's still lurking in the shadows, leaving us with our endless questions, and barely any answers.

I wanted to keep hos design as close to the concept art as possible, only additions being those that I thought would make sense. He is bulky, with a build similar to Godzilla's, having muscular arms and wide legs, with long blades, a rather boxy head and beak, short round horns, small wings, a thick tail, and the trademark visor and buzz-saw. I always thought the silhouette resembled the Showa design more, so I used it as reference, hence the layerd scales. In the concept are you can see that he has some sort of plates on his arms, which I decided to interpret as scales, hence why all of the scales on his body look like this. He overall doesn't look all that cybernetic, but as I said, I mainly based this off of the Showa design, which may look more organic on the outside, but is almost completely cybernetic on the inside, so that could probably also be applied to this design as well. Other than that I decided to give him a more pronounced bird-like pelvis, sing MV Godzilla and MV Ghidorah also have bird-like pelvises, and it makes sense to do this for Gigan too since he is an actual bird lol

Overall really happy with this piece. As I said it was originally just a simple sketch I did for fun and didn't think of actually rendering, but I ended up really liking it and this was the result which I am really proud of. Really hope that one day Gigan will get in the MonsterVerse. I'm willing to wait as much as possible to finally see that come to fruition
