Anyway hiiiiiiiiiii I'm back with more art lol. Said I'd draw more GxK related stuff since I was in the mood for that and so I did so here's Tiamat! I just had to draw her since you guys may already know that I like Tiamat a lot and I ended up really loving her movie design so here she is!

Personally I liked her comic design a lot, however I can definitely understand why a lot of people didn't like it as much because it was so all over the place and it was incoherent at times (plus the illustrations from Godzilla: Dominion and Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong didn't do her much justice), but then they went with a completely different design for her for the movie, closer to the original concept art that Dope Pope made. This time her design looks a lot more coherent, even if she only had one scene which was pretty dark since it was underwater. I started liking the movie design a lot more compared to the comic one. While I may have liked the colorscheme or the fins on her back that the comic design had, I much more prefer her movie design. Her pink frills contrast really well with her navy blue body, and honestly I'm glad they decided to keep the head frills for the movie design since she didn't have them in the comic and I actually really liked the concept artworks of her with the head frills. I kinda like the fact that they actually gave her limbs now. A lot of people compare her to Manda now, but honestly there's probably like a million other sea serpent designs out there that resemble Manda, so I don't really care about the fact that Tiamat looks similar to her. I kinda dig the explanation they came up with for Godzilla's Evolved form, saying that the reason he's pink now is because he absorbed Tiamat's DNA. It makes sense, tho I am still somewhat of a bigger fan of the gamma ray theory that people came up with back in December since it also makes a lot of sense.

Now like many others I was also pretty upset and disappointed with Tiamat's death AND BEFORE ANYONE SAYS ANYTHING, yes I know that Godzilla had a reason to kill her since she was harvesting energy from the sun and wanted to eventually overthrow her, not to mention they already were on bad terms since they fought in Dominion, BUT the issue here is not whether or not Godzilla had a reason to kill her or not, the issue is that literally all of this information was NEVER stated in the movie and instead happened off-screen. To people who only watched the movies and haven't read any of the comics or supplementary material, Tiamat's death just feels extremely underwhelming, and even to someone who has read those stuff it still feel underwhelming since this was literally her only movie appearance and she was killed off in like less than a minute by Godzilla (same goes with Scylla). I just feel like they could've done so much more with Tiamat, since she had a really interesting concept and design, yet they just killed her off almost immediately and honestly I can't help but feel disappointed. At least it was confirmed that we will get some MonsterVerse spin-off shows from Apple TV in the future, so in case any of those take place before GxK and after KOTM then we still might be able to see more of Tiamat before she died, but who knows.

Anywayyyyyy onto the actual drawing, I had a lot of fun drawing Tiamat! Last time I drew her was last year (I drew her quite a few times last year actually) so it felt nice drawing her again now that she has an easier design to understand and visualize. Posing her was really fun, since she has a long and flexible body so I got to be creative with the pose. Drawing her fins was a bit challenging and time consuming, but it was really fun! Doing her pink glow was pretty fun as well! Tried to replicate the way it looks in the movie, where it looks like a bunch of shiny pink spots lol. Also this meant I got to draw another underwater scene which I was really happy about since I love drawing these and it's been a while since I had drawn an underwater piece lol. Overall really proud with the result! I think I did really well with the contrast between the blue scenery and the pink glow!

I'll definitely be drawing more of the Titans from GxK! Tempted to draw Scylla since I already drew Tiamat lol
