Description
I am currently working artwork for a novel cover. This is the rough sketch. The art will wrap around to the back of the book, so the dragon rider will appear on the front and the rest of the scene, to the left, will go round the back of the book. I'll post the fnished art in my gallery when it's finished.It's a cool subject and I hope to be able to convey a real sense of flying when I paint the dragons.

I love the way the legs are held and the arch of the back while flying... different them most dragon drawings... faved for that reason (art reference)

Amazingly beautiful.
The only bit of suggestion I have is to either lower the left wing of the foremost dragon or tilt the body or move the head to make it look like it's getting ready to turn (Obviously, the first is probably easier). Wings usually move together, especially in flight, so it looks a little awkward to have one wing raised up against the airflow and the other flater since that would disrupt the flight quite a bit.
But the detail is awesome. Someday I'll have such skill... I hope!

I think it's so beautiful it could make a fantastic novel cover also without the coloring! can I know what the book is about? I love dragons but I'm a bit tired of reading Eragon for the eight time so I was looking for another dragon novel but I can't find any that I like! awesome work anyway

well, you can correct something yet. Dragons have four legs and the wings, they have six limbs. Those in that drawing are Wyverns, only back legs and wings, they are wyverns.

However... I am thinking that so as the be more airodynamic in flight the dragons tuck their front legs in close to thier bodies and you can't see them behind the wings. Perhaps I should show a little bit of hand or something sticking out to make this clear.

yes, but you should show the shoulder of the front legs, and the part of the arm that could be viewable

Great concept. I'm working on a novel cover myself, which will make the journey from a digital piece to a traditional painting, back to a digital manipulation.
