I'm sorry Lydia, did you say something? I was momentarily deafened by the awesomeness of my hooved friend here, so I didn't quite catch that.This was pretty much my reaction when I realized that in Skyrim your horse can actually fight by your side. For the record, I was never one of those little girls who had their walls plastered with horse and pony posters - all the more so, it baffles me how I've gotten so attached to my little virtual mount, Queen Alfsigr. I genuinely worry for her every time we end up in the middle of the battle, and I take it somewhat personally if she gets hurt. "OMG, dragon, you dare to attack my horse?! That's it, you're so going to die"...
I originally sketched this idea already in last December, about same time as this [link] but then I misplaced the damn paper and didn't find it until now. As belated as it is, I hope you like it...

lol I could count how many times my horse died. The first to a dragon, the second to a more powerful dragon, and the third is still kicking. Arvak, though, is another case.
It kinda got frustrating at first until I realised I had a coin purse holding 30,000 septims so the horse just became an expendable asset for me. XD
Although one of the biggest kinks I got out of horses was fighting Mongolian style: riding around enemies and landing blows with my greatsword then riding out of reach. Rinse repeat.

I named my horse Wolfsbane. Β Guess the first thing I watched it battle and kill on its own.
I make savepoints almost obsessively, so I always make sure my horse doesn't end up dying |D

I didn't use a horse for the majority of the game (I hated the idea that while I would get around faster, if I wanted to fight I would have to climb down off horseback. Given that I was a stealthy Archer, I would already be spotted and therefore lost the element of surprise) until I killed a guy who was riding one and then stole his horse. I then got attacked by vampires and the horse BEAT THE SHIT out of them. I was so surprised that I decided to avoid every city in case they find out it was stolen. I named him Atax.
Me and that horse went on so many adventures until I dismounted and it ran off into the lake, I think it went chasing a slaughterfish. Never saw him again, no matter how long I spent combing the lake floor (I have a pathological fear of water, even in video games. So the fact i was willing to do that much for him was a miracle in and of itself.) but I never found him.Β

Surprised me too. I didn't even own the horse. He was with the army I was helping and they didn't mind me using him. Even more surprising is when you don't see him for a while, fast travel, and he appears right next to you... and immediately tries to leave.

I know exactly what you mean! i love my Snow Strider and when we got attacked by a cave bear i flipped out because he rushed right in and my flame spells were doing squat at the time. KIcked the bears butt though. I love my horse.

Yeah you're right. In Oblivion Lucien calls Shadowmere a she but in Skyrim he calls Shadowmere a she. Astrid is prone to switching the gender from he to she but never in the same conversation.

see this is why i only buy horses from Whiterun. I bought a Solitude one and it ran away when i was fighting some mages the battle was twenty feet away from it behind a fort's wall and it still ran away i tried looking for it but it disappeared.

When I got into the first dragon fight I had Queen with me and the damn dragon killed my horse! He landed right next to her and breathed fire,(I have a mod that makes it so that it takes like 10 min to kill a dragon high level) I was so pissed that I screamed "No!" at my computer until I killed that lizard then I used a cheat to bring her back "resurrect" then I was all cool

OMG I know what you mean. On my first playthrough on Skyrim, my character's horse that I bought at Whiterun stables was killed in Winterhold by the magical anomalies that resulted from a certain Thalmor's actions.
I killed Ancano real slow, and one of the staff was kind enough to reanimate him for me. So I could kill him again.

I remember my first horse of skyrim, strong and noble. Good girl grew on me, too bad all my old files were deleted and I had to start anew. You can always buy a new horse or dog, but it isn't the same
