I tried so SO hard coloring this one, and.. I still can't say I'm perfectly happy with it.

Regardless, I had fun!

Anyhoot, this is an illustration for my NaNoWriMo project, titled 'Beyond Otisa's Grotto'. 8D

It's supposed to look fairy-tale-esque, since that's what the story is in essence. You know, like.. the kind of picture you'd find in an illustrated kid's book? Like that!
I hope it worked at some level, even though I'm not sure it did. Dx

The people in the trees are.. umm.. like.. fairy-people. I liked them in the sketch a LOT better, basically cuz they.. well.. looked less like the pictures of those Grecian doods on the salad dressing bottles, ya know? 8D

ANYHOW, I had fun playing with/annihilating the effects. Overlay, Linear Burn, Difference, Exclusion, Color, Waterpaper, Gaussian Blur, Motion Blur, Lighten, Saturation, Screen, Soft Light, Brush Strokes.. you name it. I could go on forever.

^ my very favorite kind of Photoshopping >DD Makes me feel complete.

ANYWAYS. For a brief explanation of the picture, it's supposed to be kind of ambiguous, but for the most part.. it isn't. I don't want to ramble much more (despite the fact that I love rambling), but this is the main character and the dog, Pim (my favorite character =3= ~<3), heading into the forest that.. like.. leads to a special place called Otisa's Grotto.

It's really a grotto, like.. you know, a cave sort of thing. I think grottos are the coolest things in the entire world 8D
