[ amiable | optimistic | witty | reliable | resilient | meek | diffident | cowardly ]
Warmth and friendliness radiate from Pelle. His joyful squint and wagging tail always seems to create a welcoming atmosphere wherever he goes. No matter how bleak the circumstances, Pelle always strives to find the silver lining. Hailing from a less than ideal start to his own life, Pelle is no stranger to the doom and gloom that can fill a wolf's mind and overpower their life. He chooses to seek out the sun hiding behind the clouds, one of the key elements that kept him moving forward during those harsh years.
Pelle’s positive outlook on life not only boosts his own spirits but also serves to uplift those around him. He often does his best to draw attention away from negative situations, especially if there’s nothing that can be done to improve them. He does this through jokes or acting silly, doing his best to get a laugh out of those around him. He learned this from his uncle, as Asim would often use jokes or playful pranks to try and cheer him up when he was feeling down. Pelle will never forget the time Asim got a beetle stuck in his nose, with both of them nearly dying of laughter once the insect was freed from his uncle's snout. Later, he learned Asim had done it on purpose to cheer Pelle up. His infectious optimism inspires hope and motivates others to see the brighter side of every situation.
No matter the challenges life throws at him, Pelle remains determined to overcome any obstacle that stands in his way. For better or for worse, this was a value that his mother instilled in him at a young age. He displays remarkable adaptability and bounces back from setbacks with unwavering strength. Pelle is a reliable wolf who is steadfast when it comes to his duties, pack, and friends. He is loyal to a fault, refusing to backdown even in the most dire circumstances if someone close to him is in danger. His commitment to fulfilling promises is commendable, and wolves know they can always count on him. Though Pelle may shy away from their praise, he is a good pack mate through and through.
Pelle embodies the essence of meekness, possessing a gentle and humble nature. He is content to work diligently behind the scenes, contributing to the pack without seeking recognition. Though, his timid nature also gives way to cowardice during moments of intense violence. He freezes up, eyes wide, tail between his legs, his mind flashing back to that terrifying encounter during his early years. It takes quite a bit of nudging to get him to snap out of his paralyzed state and ground him in reality.
Pelle is reluctant to assert himself or draw attention to his accomplishments. His lack of self-assurance sometimes holds him back from fully embracing his potential. As a pup he received relentless pressure from his mother to constantly strive for improvement, often at the cost of his own well-being. She berated him and used harsh criticism as a means to push him forward, weaponizing his fear of failure. This does not stop him from speaking up about what he believes in. He will speak his mind, espeically if he feels he must.
The constant barrage of negativity and lack of emotional support left deep scars on Pelle’s psyche, leading him to develop a strong aversion to taking risks. This instilled a sense of inadequacy in him, causing him to doubt his abilities and decisions at every turn. His confidence eroded, leaving him feeling incapable and hesitant to pursue his passions or dreams. As the years went on, Pelle managed to push through some of his reservations with the support of his uncle and close friends. With fledgling confidence and boundless optimism, Pelle gradually sought out what truly interested him rather than following the path that had been laid out before him.

» Detailed History:
"Be grateful for the precious gift of life that fills your hearts, as it came with a cost." - Renata
Pelle was born to his mother, Renata and father, Masudi, under the light of the moon. His litter consisted of three healthy pups, and one stillborn. Though heartbroken over the loss of a pup, Renata insisted that the loss of their sibling was for the better. Pelle’s stillborn brother had given his life so that his siblings could not only survive but thrive under the blessing of the three elders. Pelle’s sister was blessed with the name Daiva, his brother with Darius and his stillborn sibling was given the name Elijas out of respect for the sacrifice he had made.
Pelle and his siblings grew fast and it wasn’t long before Renata had a difficult time keeping track of all of them. Daiva’s mischievous spirit added to the challenge as she frequently led her two brothers on ‘raids’ outside of their den. The intent was to break out of the bounds of den, but thankfully they were often caught and wrangled back into the den by a vigilant pack member before they made it too far.
With Masudi busy on patrol and Renata needing to return to the hunt, it was Asim who ended up watching the siblings most of the time. Brother to Pelle’s father and a wolf who had never truly found his place in the pack. He was like a pup in his own sense, maintaining that child-like wonder from his younger years. He played with Pelle and his siblings, often taking on the role of a bear that the siblings needed to slay in order to save the pack.
---
"Daiva and Darius are so good at everything they do, and I'm just... me." - Pelle
As time went on, the three siblings each began to shine in their own ways, talents becoming obvious for each. Renata’s claims of a blessing seemed to be coming true. Daiva was a natural born hunter. At only a month old she managed to successfully catch a mouse scurrying about the den. She proudly showed off her catch to her family, Renata boasting that she would become a grand hunter once she was old enough to venture outside of the den. Darius took after their father. He was built like a bear with a broad chest, powerful paws and strong jaw. Even at his young age he was already eagerly scrapping with older pups in the pack, and winning.
Pelle found himself awkwardly stuck in the middle. He wasn’t as good of a hunter as his sister, always tripping over his paws or accidentally disturbing the brush with his tail, nor as good of a fighter as his brother, too fearful of hurting his siblings to really put his heart into fighting. He was very attentive, and his curious nature got him far. He would always be the first to greet Masudi when he returned from his patrol, able to hear him coming from far away and distinguish his scent from the myriad of others that clouded their den.
Even though Pelle felt as though he was the least talented among his siblings, Darius and Daiva insisted otherwise. They were always there to cheer their brother up whenever he was feeling down. Daiva happily shared any beetles she caught with her brother and Darius did his best to try and teach his brother the little fighting tricks he had picked up on.

"I can't stop seeing it again and again in my mind... it haunts me." - Pelle
As the pups were nearing their two month mark, Renata returned from a hunt completely shaken. Pelle, curious as ever, listened in to a hushed conversation between his parents. His mother spoke of the hunt, of the deer they had felled and of the owls that had gone down with it. Somehow in the final moments of the hunt she had trampled two owl hatchlings who had fallen from their nest. The blood stained her paws, the blonde fur tainted pink. Masudi insisted she had no need to worry, not believing in the superstitions of the land. Renata was only temporarily calmed by her mate’s words, paranoia prickling at her pelt.
Not more than two moons later, during one of Daiva's mischievous escapades outside of the den, the three wolf pups were attacked by a badger. Darius did his best to defend his siblings, but his skills amounted to nothing against this foe. He fell first, crushed by the badger’s hefty paws. Backed into a corner, Daiva was swiftly ended by the badger’s jaws, her blood staining the beast’s muzzle as he sniffed out the final pup. Pelle had wedged himself down in a crevice among the roots of a tree, running as soon as the badger’s scent had reached his nose. His entire body trembled as he watched the badger’s claws slice gouges into the roots that protected him, his sibling’s blood staining the dark talons.
The pack found Pelle seconds before the final root snapped. The badger met a swift end at the jaws of Pelle’s father, but the crunch of the badger’s bones would never be able to drown out the heart wrenching howl of his mother when she saw what had happened to her pups.
---
"Had it been you who met your fate in the clutches of that beast, maybe then our lives would have gone down a different path. A better path." - Masudi
The loss of Pelle’s siblings was swiftly followed by the loss of Osirus. The fracture in Pelle’s family caused by the tragic deaths of his brother and sister was only further exacerbated by the confusion and uncertainty that came with the death of the alpha. Pelle’s mother and father grew distant, both blaming each other for the loss of their pups. When the southern wolves split, so did Pelle’s family pack. Pelle’s mother took him to Taika, while Pelle’s father ventured to Skydas, leaving his son at the mercy of his grieving mate. Confused and despondent, young Pelle had no choice but to go with her.
The next few years of Pelle’s life were spent under the ever watchful eyes of his mother. She pushed him to become a better version of himself. Pelle’s own wants and needs were shoved aside as Renata's vision for what he was to become dominated his life. She wasn’t going to lose her final pup, she was determined to make sure he would be strong enough to face any challenge that came his way - and succeed.
Pelle survived the harsh training sessions and berating of his mother thanks to the aid of his uncle, Asim, who had also ventured to Taika. The two of them would spend what little free time Pelle had going on walks through Taikan territory, talking about the world and the way they hoped things would turn out. These strolls among nature helped soothe Pelle’s troubled mind. Laying in the warmth of the sun and listening to the wind blow through the branches of the trees brought him peace. Pelle admired his uncle and the way the older wolf held the world in such an optimistic view despite the hardships that he had suffered in his own life.
As time flew by, Pelle was excelled in his training, growing into a strong and capable wolf. A good hunter and a decent fighter. His mother was proud of his growth and achievements. She would boast to other wolves in the pack, but never graced Pelle with a compliment.
The better he became the more his mother eased up on his training, giving Pelle more free time than he had ever had before. Pelle relished in these breaks that he got, spending most of his downtime with the new friends he had made or studying with his uncle. Asim had finally found his place in Taika, taking up the trade of Healer. Pelle enjoyed listening to his uncle speak about herbs and the uses of plants, wishing that he could abandon the harsh training his mother expected of him so that he could follow in his uncle’s paw steps. Helping others had always been a calling for him, and as much as he detested violence becoming a Healer seemed like the natural way to go.

"They... they caused this. They... caused all of this." - Renata
As rumors of tainted waters spread, Renata became more paranoid, convinced that not only were the Kol behind these deaths but that somehow the Kol and their magics had caused the death of her pups. That they had bewitched the badger and sent her pups tumbling into its den. Her family had been specifically targeted, and the Kol not only wanted Pelle dead, but her as well.
When stone circles began appearing all throughout Taikan territory, Renata refused to leave the common area outside of their den and forbade Pelle from leaving as well. When Pelle pressed her for an explanation, she said that she was certain that if either of them ventured beyond the bounds of their den, that they would be the next victims. Pelle wasn’t sure what to believe. He wanted to aid his pack and assist in laying their fallen pack mates to rest, but he had no choice but to obey his mother’s wishes. In Renata’s eyes, her suspicions were confirmed. Even more so that one fateful day when the ocean came to swallow Taika whole.

"You were so afraid of losing your last pup, clinging on so tightly, that you didn’t realize you were pushing me away.” - Pelle
When the wave came crashing down on Taika, Pelle and his mother made it through mostly unscathed. Soaked and disoriented, panic set in when Pelle was unable to find Asim among the surviving pack members.
By this point, Renata was hell bent on destroying the Kol. She was convinced the wave was caused by them. Somehow, they figured out how to cause such a thing to happen. In her paranoid state she placed the blame of everything that had gone wrong in her life upon magic, upon the Kol. Disgusted by magic and tired of being a victim to such things she decided to leave Taika behind and join Stonehaven.
And she wanted Pelle to go with her.
Pelle refused, taking a stand against his mother and her desires for the first time in his life. He was not giving up on the search for his uncle and he was not going to allow her to take him away from that. Even he could see how unhinged she had become, paranoia consuming her mind. Pelle was tired of her controlling nature, how she made all decisions for him in his life. Most importantly, he was tired of cowering at the first sight of her fangs and trembling beneath the harshness of her words.
Renata's rage erupted from her and she leapt upon her son. Teeth gnashed and fur was torn. In the end, Pelle emerged victorious. The months of training he had endured under his mother had ironically forged him to into a better fighter than she ever was.
Renata retreated to Stonehaven, and Pelle ventured onwards to Skydas, where at least he knew one family member was still alive. Bearing wounds from the skirmish with his mother, Pelle couldn't help but chuckle at the irony of how they mirrored those which he had been suffering from internally all these months.
---
"I think you've finally found a place you can call home." - Asim
Pelle reached Skydas, his heart heavy. Though he had suffered at the mercy of his mother, Renata was still his mother and his family. Perhaps the last blood relative he had left alive. He felt alone, alienated. When Pelle arrived in Sylkas, part of him had hoped that his father would be there to greet him, but he was nowhere in sight.
A yelp of Pelle's name grabbed his attention and Pelle lifted his head just in time to see Asim limping across the field towards him. Skydas Wardens had discovered Asim soon after the wave and brought him back to Skydas territory in order to allow their Harvesters to tend to his wounds. With a broken leg, Asim had been unable to venture out to find his family.
Reunited with his uncle, Pelle felt that his life was about to change for the better. He would finally be allowed to pursue his own interests and branch out without suffering beneath his mother's watchful gaze.
Life in Skydas was a welcoming breath of fresh air for Pelle. Everyone was treated equally, no matter their rank, ability or where they came from. It was a complete change for him, and though he still had a shattered sense of self confidence, the friendly words of the members of his new pack always served to make his tail wag. Here he could leave violence behind and finally begin studying how to heal wolves rather than wound them.
He had finally found his home, where he belonged.

"When one pack suffers, so do all the rest. We need each other." -Pelle
The startling news of the sudden deaths of Varnas and Nikare shocked Pelle. Not only that they had been killed, but the method of how they died. Pelle thought back to his mother, of her paranoia surrounding magic. Had she been right all along?…
Pelle was awestruck the night that the island's stone circles illuminated the land. Strange deaths and the undeniable fact that magic was at play weighed on his mind. However, not all of these unusual circumstances could have been caused by natural magic alone. Someone out there was doing this maliciously, and Pelle found himself feeling truly powerless. The rampant seasonal deaths unable to be stopped. Who would be next? Him? Asim? Another member of his pack? Pelle’s heart ached, fearing not only for himself but for all other wolves on the island who could fall victim to the next attack.
With whispers of war carried on the wind Pelle found himself full of anger. He felt as though he had just started his life anew, and now it was being threatened all over again. He knew that all of the packs could live peacefully on the island if they truly committed to it and gave it a chance as Skydas had. The United Pack thrived for so long because they were exactly that, one united force. They needed to reunite, just as the elders had all those years ago. If they didn’t… Pelle feared that soon enough the shattered remnants of the United Pack would vanish from Álmos entirely.

» Pelle does believe in magic, but in more of a natural sense. There is magic all around in nature, and it is held in check by a delicate balance. He believes that the events on the island are caused by the balance being disrupted, by someone or something. He isn’t sure who or what it might be, but he knows that something is to blame.
» Pelle is very expressive with his ears, one often drooping when he is confused or feeling sheepish (which quite the common occurrence).
