Surasaya'koae (The Island outside the Universe), colloquially referred to as "The Island" was a medium-sized space station platform utilized as an emergency base of operations and secret shipyard established by the gauss dominion. Despite its grandiose name, the Island is not actually outside of the universal plane, but exists in an artificially maintained bubble of realspace deep within a hyperspatial labyrinth.

The Island was constructed in secret at a location above/below the plane of the galaxy in 1052DE. Recognizing the threat that courgaten infiltrators could pose to the humiliating galactic armed forces, a project was approved to create a location that was safe against any infiltration. The massive arsium torsion rings were first manufactured in seperate star systems before being towed to the final assembly site inside a small dwarf planet. The actual assembly of the main drive unit being completed in merely a week, by snapping together modular components before immediately moving the station into subspace before assembly was completed.

All materials for construction were imported and all workers involved in the final assembly project beyond those at the highest level were chosen primarily on their willingness to live at the base for the remainder of their lives. This is to prevent the location and secrets of the island from being leaked.
