That sounds familiar. I used console commands to get Julius in that area and make Nocturnal appear, and I likely skipped over the script that makes the crows appear.

Fellow nerds, I don't think Mjoll's drone gets enough credit. What was this apparently pathetic townie doing so close to a Dwemer Ruin/bandit hideout miles from Riften that he could see Mjoll drag herself out of it? Where did he gain the skills for emergency medical treatment in the wilderness? How does he pay for that nice townhouse in downtown Riften without a job? I think Aern is either a closet badass or a retired criminal.

This part in game always frustrates me. Karliah is all "lol I just sold your soul to eternal servitude" and Dovahkiin just stands there stupid.
Though if s/he is a werewolf or vampire and is promised a place in Sovngarde, who's going to gets him/her in the end? Maybe Molag Bal/Hircine, Shor and Nocturnal will draw straws for it...
