My first screenshot ever of my recent addition to the computing family here at home; the Apple PowerBook 17" that I purchased second-hand from a co-worker of mine.I am still entirely new to this whole OS X thing and feel like a complete n00b although it does seem that the barrier to understanding the OS is far easier than Windows. Do not know if that is a psychological thing or not.
Anyhow, the IM app is Adium and I used CandyBar to modify the icons. Any tips that anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

I loved that desktop! For many years I had used macs in the past, and I hated the old mac os 6 up to 9. I was a heavy PC user, until I got OSX (Tiger) 10.4. installed on my ancient imac G3. I was blown away with the new OS, and now I like Macs, where before I hated the looks in the past. I was confused with mac extensions, and got tired of seeing the stupid black bomb image on the macs at my job. The unhappy face was seen too often on the old OS.
I still like both PC and Mac. I am dual platform

I like Proteus more than Adium, but that's just personal preference. Shapeshifter does icons too now, I think with CandyBar packs.

nice, I have a friend that's a mac guy, macs have their up sides. I like but can't afford another computer, so I use aston because it has some features similar to mac operating systems.

Just posted on your main page. So, you're a recent switcher. In that case, welcome to the fold. I'm sure you'll pick up OS X very quickly. It's much easier to learn than Windows ever was. I speak from experience because I have a PC in addition to my two Macs and I'm still trying to get it to do things three years later that my Macs could do out of the box. I know you don't know me and all but if you have any Mac OS X-related questions, feel free to ask. Oh yeah, and if you do visit my DA gallery, I'm an traditional art n00b, so don't be surprised if my drawings look crude. And I might as well say, that's a nice desktop, and Adium is awesome. I have it set up to login to two AIM accounts, MSN, Yahoo, and Jabber, all at once. Once again, I support your cause. Good luck.

Cool. You've got Tiger. I wish I had Tiger but my iBook won't run it. I've got a clamshell iBook (indigo) from 2000. It runs Panther and Classic. Heres a tip. The most useful feature in tiger is Expose. Use F9, F10 and F11 to switch between all windows, the same programs windows and the desktop respectivly. I no you probably already know about it but its handy. And funny
