I know someone who bought a bottle of stuff that was supposed to be absinthe. He had read stuff about famous artists drinking it and seeing things. Notably "The Green Fairy".
You don't just pour it into a glass and drink it down, have to do stuff with water and or sugar cubes. Anyway my friend bought the bottle and rushed home to try it out. Well, there was no green fairy and it was just some drink.
Real Absinthe has wormwood which is a poison, so there are few places you can buy the real thing. There is a possibility that my friend needed to drink more so that the wormwood could chew up my friend's brain but one bottle was expensive. No need to have it chew up his wallet too.

this reminds me of a certain Polly Jean Harvey portrait, because of the angle and style (proportions).

the things that jump out are the pearl necklace and the beads on the dress....like tears that look like they should be dropping from those limpid eyes
the delicate hand holding the glass of absinthe is lovely...maybe she's apprehensive about the wonders of the wormwood?

Her green eyes make her look diseased, but she's refined - she has pearls to prove she's not some alkie off the street. I love it!

Clever rendering of the eyes.
Have you ever had absinthe before?
It's a very visual drunkeness, but I don't pick up on that stylistically in this work. Things become more 3-D on absinthe, so it may help to define the figure more from the background and/or the arm from the person.

YOU can get recipes to make absinthe on the internet. With the thujone intact. It tastes terrible, but has a nice effect. It makes time slow down.

a friend of mine bought some absinthe on a trip. he doesn't drink... he just carries it for novelty. another friend of mine tried it. he gagged for 5 minutes. you should have seen his eyes.
it smelled like ... i don't know... ouch
i like how, despite the seemingly liquor-themed nature you get form the title... that she seems very collected.
it gives it a soothing feel... instead of the typical unhinged imagery you might expect to see when involving such a potent drink.

ah wellll done, i love how she doesn't look like the sort to drink the stuff. I can imagine her at a fancy dress party that goes all freaky and green. anyway, what I mean, is its very subtle and fun to theorize about.

i think by absinthe he means the alchocolic drink. You can see it in her hand in the glass. It has like 70 percent alcohol, and is considered poision and is not supplied in many countries. If you have seen the movie Moulin Rouge, you will remember how they drink loads of it and see green fairies.

BRILLIANT. I love the play on words in the title, especially as it relates to your series. I've always wanted to dance with the Green Fairy just once, to see if it's true what they say it does to us artist types. This is gorgeous.

normally your work looks pretty much perfect, and this is no exception with one exception : the upper lip looks a little funky-big to me...otherwise, great as usual.
