Description The fourth sheet of my Archie sketch cards, which I drew for 5finity last year. I just have two more sheets to post, which I'd like to do over the course of two days. of course, if I screw up and forget to do them tomorrow or the next day, I'll just do what I did this time and post both sheets on the same day. No sense making you guys wait because I can't maintain a schedule.

Ha! No, not quite yet. But The art director at Archie tells me the company is interested in working with me, so we'll see what happens. Me, I'm kinda hoping for some Little Archie work!

Wow! I didn't know 1940's Archie was so scary-looking! Jughead looks as if he couldn't care less. Betty and Veronica are gorgeous! And the bottom seqence is hilarious. You are so gifted, Jay! Don't be so hard on yourself for having trouble scheduling.
If a professional like you has trouble with staying on a schedule, a rank amature like me can feel better. You'll get there, dude. You always do!

Thanks! Yes, Archie was downright homely in the early days. He was originally supposed to be an amalgam of Tom Sawyer and Mickey Rooney's Andy Hardy character from the 30's and 40's films. As for Jughead, he was originally just a lazy slob who barely batted an eye at a sandwich, let alone food, which explains the "who gives a crap" expression!

Awhile ago, I saw some Archie comics on the shelves and... gah! They all look so awful nowadays! If they're gonna mess with the classic style, why not do it in a wickedly cool style like this?

I know what you mean! I'd love to work on a retro mini-series for Archie where I could bring back the original looks for the characters!

Oops, forgot to ask: Speaking of maintaining a schedule, do you know if I should have gotten my Dead Duck book from my comic pusher (via Diamond) yet? I'm not sure whether to mumble curses about Ape, Diamond or said pusher....

JayFosgitt In reply to MoonDarter [2010-03-12 03:58:02 +0000 UTC]

You should first contact the comic shop you ordered it through. If you placed a Diamond order, then there's no reason they shouldn't have gotten a copy yet. They may tell you to contact Diamond or they'll do it themselves. Your last resort would be to contact Ape, but Diamond is the first responsible party. I'm very sorry you haven't received your copy yet. I hope it works out for you soon.

Okay, Diamond should have gotten my copy to my comics guys. I'll shoot off my mouth- er, I mean a message to them. Thanks!

Don't be so hard on yourself, man - scheduling isn't easy, especially when you're doing it for yourself. Whenever you can is fine!
