I'll tell you what. I've always liked Speed Racer, but if even if his car could go mach 5 (or even mach 6 like in the 2008 film) I'm certain Sonic could still top that easily.

for sure, ya I think one of my oldest memories is just watching Speed Racer, way before I knew what anime was too. Well, unlike almost every other name or concept I bother you with, Scott McCloud might actually be worth a look. I don't know much about him, but he's the author of a 1993 book called Understanding Comics, so...(maybe) think of him like one of those "inspirational figures" of yours, but on a lower tier.

It sure will be. Thanks a lot! I think this did come out the way I wanted it to. I first wanted to do a race through a tube effect, but then that would look too much like the live action Speed Racer movie.
