Description

A few years ago, I got into the Dragon Age franchise via Origins, and I fell in love with it. Like many players, I was intrigued by the possibility of all the origins surviving, so I've listed my personal choices and their fates after the Battle of Denerim.

EDIT: I've now changed the group to only Theron becoming a Grey Warden, since the Dalish Elf origin is the only one which is outright exposed to the taint and must undergo the Joining in order to survive. But I've also listed the other origins to joining/being recruited by Theron during his quest to defeat the Blight.

From left to right:

Elissa "Lissy" Cousland (Warrior - Champion, sword & shield): trained to be a warrior in imitation of her mother, riding on the still lingering fear that the Orlesians might come back. When her younger brother, Aedan, ran away from home, she was left in charge of Castle Highever when the call for soldiers to Ostagar went out. Escaping Howe's treachery thanks to her mother's sacrifice, she made it as far south as Redcliffe when the dead started rising. Joined Theron's group after the situation was dealt with, thinking that if she travels with Theron, she can keep Howe's attention off Redcliffe and give her a better chance of getting close to him.

After the Battle of Denerim, she was named Arlessa of Amaranthine as the only choice that would appease the Ferelden nobility, handling the politics and day-to-day work of the city and the arling while the Grey Wardens handle darkspawn and bandits from Vigil's Keep. She was in Amaranthine when The Mother's forces attacked and, along with reinforcements from Vigil's Keep, led the defense of the city and then joined Theron at the Dragonbone Wastes, where she learns of Aedan's ultimate fate.

Kallian "Kal" Tabris (Rogue - Duelist, dual daggers): trained by her mother, Adaia, until her death at the hands of humans. After killing Vaughan, she and Soris made a break for it when the guards headed for the alienage. Soris falls behind and gets captured, but Kallian doesn't realise it until she's already outside the city. She then heads to the Brecilian Forest where she runs into Zathrian's clan. She tried to settle in with the Dalish, but her Andrastian and alienage upbringing meant that she had trouble settling in and being accepted by many of the clan. After the curse is broken, she sees the good the group is doing, wants to contribute to it, and goes with Keeper Lanaya's blessing. During the Landsmeet, she was highly in favour of Loghain dying.

She is determined not to be seen as helpless, especially as, according to City Elf culture, she was unmarried and thus still viewed as a child. Despite trusting a few (Alistair, Teagan, Elissa and Fergus Cousland), she remains on-guard whenever dealing with human nobles. After the Battle of Denerim, she left for the north to try and find the elves already sold by Danarius.

Theron Mahariel (Rogue - Ranger, twin daggers, later sword and dagger, and bow. My main playthrough/Warden): Hated humans initially, and only grudgingly went with Duncan to Ostagar out of a sense of duty to his clan and an underlying fear of death. Guarded around the group initially, but began to open up more after Ostagar. Eventually accepted his lot as a Grey Warden by further dedicating himself to the Vir Tanadahl, and realising his deep desire to not die. Fell in love with Leliana, and they keep in contact despite their duties.

Taught from an early age about the dangers of blood magic, he was shaken by Zathrian's actions, but grudgingly accepted Jowan's blood magic ritual and left Avernus at Soldier's Peak to do ethical research. Also somewhat jealous of Alim for discovering how to become an Arcane Warrior - he was the son of his clan's previous Keeper, but was born without magic. Performed the Dark Ritual with Morrigan, slew the Archdemon, rebuilt the Grey Wardens, slew both the Architect and the Mother, rescued Brogan Dace from Amgarrak, and finally tracked down and let Morrigan go. Years later, just after the Mage-Templar War broke out, he travelled west to lands untouched by the Blight to find a cure for the Calling.

Daylen Amell (Mage - Shapeshifter, staff): only son and the second of five children of Lady Revka Amell and Ser Burgess of Kirkwall. When his older sister, Marian, was found to be a mage and taken to the Gallows, his mother went mad with grief and disappeared. Daylen, along with his younger sisters, Solona, Arista and Fausta, were taken away by their father to Gwaren. When all of the children were found to be mages and Solona accidentally revealed her magic, Burgess gave them up to the Templars, an act for which Daylen never forgave him. It was this anger which drew Daylen to Jowan and motivated him to help escape and then escape when Uldred's rebellion got out of control.

Initially focused on offensive magic, mainly in the Primal school, both he and Alim were recruited by Theron Mahariel alongside Wynne after killing Uldred, and Daylen was chosen to go into the Fade during Jowan's blood magic ritual at Redcliffe. Intrigued by Morrigan's shapeshifting abilities, he managed to convince her to teach him. During the Battle of Denerim, he found and smashed his and Alim's phylacteries, and then used the chaos to leave Ferelden to learn more about his family in the Free Marches.

Alim Surana (Mage - Arcane Warrior, staff and sword): His earliest memory is of fire, screaming and Templars. Initially more skilled at defensive and supportive magic. Became friends with Daylen and Jowan, but his trauma and trust of First Enchanter Irving made him reluctant to go against the Circle's wishes. When asked by Jowan to help escape, he went to Irving, but was imprisoned by Knight-Commander Greagoir regardless. These events, Uldred's uprising and the examples of his future companions made him realise he couldn't keep running from his fears. It was this determination to both pull his weight and try to find his place in the world which led him to become an Arcane Warrior. After the Battle of Denerim, he was named Warden-Constable of Ferelden.

Duran Aeducan (Warrior - Berserker, sword and shield): the second and favourite son of King Endrin Aeducan of Orzammar. A boisterous warrior who prefers a good fight and doesn't give an order he wouldn't be willing to carry out himself. Acted as his father's second during expeditions into the Deep Roads, but hadn't seen much true combat until his first commission. Framed for the murder of Trian by Bhelen and exiled to the Deep Roads. Sympathises with Elissa, Alim and Leliana over being used and betrayed by someone they thought they could trust. Loathes Bhelen and refuses to call him "brother", but finding out about his son with Mardy led him to asking for the child's adoption into House Aeducan, which Bhelen granted as a favour to Theron.

After the Battle of Denerim, Duran met Gorim in Denerim, but refused the Shield of Aeducan since Legionnaires aren't allowed personal possessions. He then returned to the Deep Roads, saying a final farewell to his brother, Mardy and little Trian. He, along with three other Legionnaires, later accompanies Theron and Jerrik Dace to Amgarrak, on "special recommendation" from Bhelen.

Natia "Nat" Brosca (Rogue - Assassin, dual daggers, later mace and dagger): Natia and Leske fought their way through the Carta base after the incident at the Proving grounds, but just after killing Beraht were immediately recaptured by Jarvia. Later, they were rescued when Theron and co. cleared out the Carta hideout. Natia was too weak from hunger and torture to help against Jarvia or in the Deep Roads, but joined the group after Bhelen is crowned - she sees Bhelen as just another Beraht and fears that the warrior caste is still after her head.

After the Battle of Denerim, Natia went back to Orzammar to visit Rica and her son, but after a failed assassination attempt by Officer Mainar of the Warrior Caste, decides to go back to the surface for good, going through the Joining alongside Seweryn ( dragonage.fandom.com/wiki/Sewe… ), Adalbo ( dragonage.fandom.com/wiki/Orza… ), Aller Bemot ( dragonage.fandom.com/wiki/Orza… ), Alim, Mhairi, Anders and Oghren.
