Warden-Commander Almeric Pentaghast (Warrior, Reaver, greatsword): former dragon hunter
Calder (Mage, Battlemage, staff): result of a one-time fling between Duncan and Vivian (a mage from Kinloch Hold, mentioned in The Calling)
Odile (Rogue, Ranger, bow)

Ralath (Mage, Shapeshifter, staff): the only survivor of his clan

Warden-Constable, later Warden-Commander, Desta (Rogue, Bard, twin daggers): a former Antivan Crow

Felipe (Warrior, Berserker, sword and shield)

Snorri "the Snoring Sneak" (Rogue, axe and dagger): a casteless dwarf who escaped from Orzammar to the surface. Snores, and has a rapsy voice from working in the smoke vents.

Skuld (Warrior, Berserker, battleaxe) & Hrund (Rogue, duelist, sword and dagger): twin sisters

Beryl (Warrior, Templar, sword and shield): An orphan raised by the Chantry and wishing to devote her life to the Maker by protecting others. Despite her success and strong faith, most of the other Templars still looked down upon her as a heathen and a "mud mucker". After the failed rebellion, where she saw most of her fellow Templars more concerned with killing mages and each other instead of the innocent, she decided to leave the order and join the Grey Wardens.

Solona Amell (Mage - Battlemage): sent to the Circle at Ghislain in Orlais, Solona was felt anger at her father for sending her away and at herself for not being careful enough with her magic. She threw herself into her magical studies, and Sometime just before the outbreak of the Mage-Templar War, she was transferred to the Circle of Perendale in Nevarra. Perendale had been conquered from Orlais during the Blessed Age, but the locals, egged on by Orlesian agents, resented Nevarran rule. Eventually, Solona discovered that her transfer was part of a larger plot to rebel against the Nevarrans. With the help of Daylen, Fausta, the Circle mages and some of the local Templars and Grey Wardens, the rebellion was ended before it could really begin. The Perendale Circle declared its' independence from the Chantry, but while Fausta decided to stay, Solona chose to leave and join the Grey Wardens.
