Description
**This specimen was found dead by a local farmer. I have a licence to hold protected Irish species. Examination of the corpse revealed no foul play so it a presumed natural death.**
Is it still called a pelt when it is feathers rather than fur?
Despite the green belly and some initial odour problems (thanks to an extended stay in some baking soda that is now cleared up) the sparrowhawk pelt didn't slip at all! I took it out for some pictures where some blossom petals had fallen on the wood planks
I'm not sure how to display bird pelts bet yet, I think a frame might be good. They don't hang as nicely on the wall as mammals and are very delicate and hard to dust!

Your laws are quite the pain when it comes to birds I've heard! A lot easier for you to get cool mammals like bears, coyotes, wolves, bobcats and lynx though!

yeah it's annoying and somewhat sad that owl just sat and rotted away
it is easier too get mammal pelts but where I'm at I can't get bear parts unless I get them out of state!!

The lavendar looking one on the left is so pretty! I'm thinking a frame with barn wood in the back (pretty much like their current background) would work well in a glass frame. I think bird pelts are also referred to as 'skins'?

That would look good! I don't know where to get barn wood here though, I think it's a US trend that hasn't crossed the Atlantic yet! (Also all the old barns here are made of stone or the new ones are made of ugly metal sheeting xD)

I'll keep an eye out in the shed and see if there's anything! A lot of the scrap wood we had was burned last winter but there might be some leftover pieces from a recent shed repair I can nab ;D
