Description Here are the vinyl records of more recent years that I collected since March, on top of the older records I posted a few days back: [link]

Unlike many of the classic records, I am much more familiar with most of these albums and personally enjoy the music very much.

I am really enjoying this new found hobby and all the great music I'm getting to hear. With plenty of other great albums I want to get, I'll be keeping my collection going, though hopefully do a better job at regulating/limit my spendings.

7" Records

All American Rejects:
Gives you Hell - single, not the best music but I have seen them a few times, overpaid for it.

Broken Bells:
The High Road - single, great song, good but not as impressive album.

Death Cab for Cutie:
Soul Meets Body - single, great song, need to hear b-side Jealousy Rides With Me.
In Living Stereo! - x2 RSD11 promo 7" cool retro idea but I didn't know of it until after listening.

Matt and Kim:
Block After Block - RSD11 single, great tracks, need to go see them again.

Oasis:
Lyla - single, good songs

Passion Pit:
Little Secrets 7" - RSD10 single

Pearl Jam:
Life Wasted - single, import?
Immortality/Rearviewmirror - RSD11 single, sealed, not sure if it was worth buying.

She and Him:
Thieves - single, great song and full album, need to get it on vinyl.

Side by Side:
Havana Affair by Ramones & Red Hot Chili Peppers
Don't Want To Know If You Are Lonely by Husker Du & Green Day
Love Hurts by Gram Parsons &... & Jenny and Johnny
all RSD11 exclusives

Regina Spektor:
Four From Far - RSD11 blue vinyl, weird 33 1/3 RPM 7".

10" Records

Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band:
Live from the Carousel - x2 RSD11 release

Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons:
Dharohar Project - x2 RSD11 release, need to hear this.

Kings of Leon:
Holy Roller Novocaine - RSD11 red vinyl, overpaid for it.

12" LP Records and Singles

Against Me!
New Wave - yellow vinyl. Best song: Borne on The FM Waves… with Tegan Quin

Band of Horses:
Everything All the Time - sealed, need to open and listen

The Black Keys:
Brothers - great album, too bad I missed them at ACL 10. Best song: She’s Long Gone & more

Coldplay:
A Rush of Blood to the Head - Best song: many tracks
Viva La Vida - hope see them at ACL 11. Best song: Life in Technicolor

Daft Punk:
Discovery - Best song: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

The Dead Weather:
Horehound - Best song: Bone House
Sea of Cowards - Best: Hustle and Cuss & more
almost can’t go wrong with anything Jack White dose.

Death Cab for Cutie:
Codes and Keys - very unusual drums sound for deathcab… Best: You Are a Tourist & more

The Dirty Projectors - my attempt at trying new/different music, failed badly… what the hell is this stuff?

Eisley:
The Valley - their weakest LP but still solid and saw them again last weekend. Best: The Valley

The Flaming Lips:
The Soft Bulletin - ordered Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots but didn’t get it, so I got this album instead. Best: Race for the Prize

Fleet Foxes:
Fleet Foxes - sealed, still need to hear it and decide if I want to see them or not at ACL this year.

Foxboro Hot Tubs:
Stop Drop and Roll!!! - just as good as any Green Day album in my opinion. Best: Stop Drop and Roll & more

Green Day: (out of order but didn’t want to be a break between these two bands)
Warning - Best: Minority
Awesome as F**k - sealed with shirt, haven’t heard but not having Horseshoes and Handgrenades on it sucks

Gorillaz:
The Fall - RSD11 individually #ed, think the vinyl version was a RSD exclusive. Sealed, heard once digitally and thought it was pretty good

Guns n' Roses:
Chinese Democracy - bought for no reason for $1.99, with no intent to listen to it or get the free downloads

Sarah Jaffe:
Suburban Nature - Denton’s own, good music/album. Best: Clementine, I think… & more

The Kills:
Midnight Boom - got at the show, love getting vinyl for a good price without tax. Best: M.E.X.I.C.O. & more
Blood Pressures - first new record/release bought on vinyl in store, got way more than I should since then… good album. Best: Heart is a Beating Drum & more

Kings of Leon:
Come Around Sundown - sealed, heard some songs from it that sounded good. I was told their early work is better but I didn’t care for it after a few listens, though I thought Only by the Night was good, when others tell me it’s over produced and not really their style. I guess I might be missing the point when it comes to their music.

M.I.A.:
MAYA - thought it was worth a try at $5, only heard side A...

Mumford & Sons:
Sigh No More - great, more banjo than I expected but it’s not a problem. Sounds similar to the Arcade Fire to me, but way better than The Suburbs as I just don’t get that album. Best: many tracks

Muse:
Black Holes and Revelations - first great used vinyl find at a local store. Best: used to be Starlight, now it has to be Supermassive Black Hole.

Pearl Jam:
VS.
Vitalogy
both were released on RSD11, haven't listened to them yet.

The Postal Service:
Give Up - right up there with the best of deathcab albums. Best: Nothing Better & more

Radiohead:
Pablo Honey - Best: Creep
In Rainbows - Best: Bodysnatchers
just may be the best values on this list at $5 each, my roommate is really getting me into Radiohead and Thom Yorke, I’m still learning to like them and The Bends is by far their best album to me at this point.

The Shins:
Oh, Inverted World - sealed, only know New Slang, need to hear the entire album
Wincing the Night Away - Best: Phantom Limb
was about to say Broken Bells sounds better after hearing the single, but wasn’t totally impressed by their entire album, I’d think The Shins are still better.

Silversun Pickups:
Carnavas - one of my favorite albums and a must have, came with a 7” of 2 songs I never heard but haven’t got to listen to them much yet. Best: Lazy Eye of course & many other great tracks

Spoon:
Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga - the greatest thing to come out of Austin ever? At least to me since I don’t like Austin. Great album, sadly their others seem to be quite weak. Best: Don’t You Evah & many more

The Strokes:
Is This It - didn't fully appreciate the greatness of this album until I got it on vinyl. Best: Barely Legal & many more
First Impressions of Earth - Best: You Only Live Once & many more
as I have learned in the past year: The Strokes are awesome. I will also admit to a male crush on Julian Casablancas, not so much physically, but what a life he has.

Sublime:
Sublime - older picture disc version. Best: What I Got & more

Tegan and Sara:
The Official Vinyl Collection: got it new but didn’t get the poster for some reason…
This Business of Art – I like it much less than when I first heard it… Best: My Number
If It Was You – liking it slightly more than when I first heard it… Best: Living Room
So Jealous – best T&S album, pretty feminine lyrics upon more careful recent inspecting, I enjoy the music too much to let that change my mind. Best: Walking With A Ghost, I Can’t Take It & many more
The Con – 3rd best album. Best: Back in Your Head & more
Sainthood – 2nd best album. Best: Northshore & many more
Tegan and Sara Home Recordings – quite a few great live recordings from the last 3 albums.
Alligator Remix LP - sealed, haven’t heard it, good original song.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers:
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - RSD11 Limited Edition of 2,500 white vinyl
You’re Gonna Get It - RSD11 Limited Edition of 2,500 blue vinyl

Vampire Weekend:
Contra - interesting album in that I only listen to one song individually, yet the entire thing is much better than its parts and very enjoyable. Best: Giving Up the Gun, by far the band’s best song
Giving Up the Gun Remix - the original song can’t be topped, but the remixes are neat.

The White Stripes:
Under the Great Northern Lights - nice live album, wish it had more songs I love like Little Cream Soda (love that song)

The xx:
xx - awesome band and album, wish I paid more attention to them at ACL10. Best: Intro, Crystalised & many more

Yeah Yeah Yeahs:
Zero - great song, cool remixes.

Just curious: Why would you submit this to getwatchers?

It's really cool and all, but it's not art bro.

Not trying to jump on you or anything but I never said this was my art, however it certainly is many other people's visual art that I just happen to appreciate in this form.

It was posted simply under "products", so have fun commenting in that category if you feel the need to let others know what is or isn't art to you.

You have your point/opinion, I have mine. You obviously disagree with my point of view and feel the need to let me know about yours. Yet unless I agree with you, you won't be satisfied, so what are you trying to accomplish by telling me I'm not seeing things your way?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DJDesco In reply to JJRRS [2012-03-21 05:40:55 +0000 UTC]

That's the thing, I absolutely see it your way, Lol. I'm not some close minded fool who thinks art has to be on canvas or pixels!

For one, all I was doing was asking a question, WHY you put it on GetWatchers to begin with, my logic being that it really doesn't fit in with 99.99999% of the things you see on the viewer, and isn't likely to get many likes, ect, surrounded by more popular, traditional media.

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression, no offense intended.

None of these are my art, and I don't claim them to be anything but "products", which is the category this posting's located. However, they are each artworks of other people, and there are certainly much worst representations of "art" around, so feel free to let all those people know about it.

Eisley and Tegan and sara <3 we also have similar tastes in music ^^ nice vinyl collection

JJRRS In reply to RevivalWarrior [2011-06-14 06:04:07 +0000 UTC]

Yep, both of those bands are in my personal top 5, as in I'll make time to go see them whenever I can.

That's kind of an unproven claim when it comes to Tegan and Sara since they really only been to town once after I started listening to them(okay twice, but I wasn't going to see them just open for paramore), though they shot way up my list since then. Eisley I have seen over a handful of times including just last weekend, and counting standing right next to them once as fans at a mute math show.

Thanks for the comment and just in case you are interested, I have done some drawings for both bands too.

RevivalWarrior In reply to JJRRS [2011-06-14 16:12:30 +0000 UTC]

thats awesome, i saw them open for paramore(even though ive been a fan since before that) because i just HAD to see them, I was going to see Eisley recently but I didnt have my car . Thats so cool that you got to stand next to them, i wouldve freaked out.

JJRRS In reply to NessieMayfleet [2011-06-14 06:09:02 +0000 UTC]

Awesome, I am way more familiar with these albums than the classic vinyls I collected, as I actually personally ordered just about all of them knowing that I already loved the albums.(which came out to a shocking amount of money that I really shouldn't have spent after I did the math...)

What are some of the ones that are high on your list?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NessieMayfleet In reply to JJRRS [2011-06-14 14:45:32 +0000 UTC]

Music is expensive! And for us that like to collect the originals Cd's and vinyls the end result is a lot of money spent on it.

For Emma, Forever Ago and Blood Bank from Bon Iver. I love his voice and how he isolated himself from everything to write For Emma. And Skinny Love shows exactly that.

XX from The xx Of course.

The two albums of Deolinda (Portuguese band that sings a different variation of fado)

Explode from The Gift (Another Portuguese band.) I had the pleasure to go to a showcase and talk a bit with them and they're so nice. They didn't know the band Two Door Cinema Club so we talked a bit about music.

Manners from Passion Pit. Sleepyhead was on repeat for ages on my iPod.

Furr from Blitzen Trapper. Furr (the song) is one of my favorites.

From your collection; The kills, Mumford & Sons, Muse (Got to see them live and it was something else), Gorillaz and The Shins. And I better stop.

Sorry for the big comment.

Thanks, I'm just starting to collect them as of March of this year, I really can't keep up with spending the amount of money I been spending to buy them, but I will be keeping my collection going.
