Description I don't know when I have struggled on a portrait, as much as I did on this one, trying to get a certain look. I did not quite get the look I wanted, but it is close. Perhaps next time.
Graphite on Strathmore Bristol vellum, 9" x 12".

Joyce, I think this is so lifelike, I cannot find any fault! I think you did a great job on this one!

You are too kind Beth.  I loved Bogart's performance in The African Queen.  I'll bet he had fun playing the character "Charlie Allnut" to Katherine Hepburn's "Rosie Sayer."

Thanks dear Kathleen.  I've had quite a few people on S-P's website tell me it is good, but somehow when I look at it, I think it is missing something.  He does not look quite right to me.

The wrinkles on the forehead look good, but the bowtie is a little off (I think) and you used a pretty thick pencil for the hair; a smaller one might make the hair look more realistic, but overall it's a very nice drawing

Welcome to Deviant Art, Mikael.  I hope you will enjoy being a member of this website as much as I have enjoyed being one.  Thank you for your critique on my Humphrey Bogart drawing. I will keep in mind what you said about his hair. Hair is still difficult for me to draw.  As for Bogey's bow tie being askew, you are right.  It is crooked! But that is how it appeared in the photo I used for reference.
