This shows an idea of what the rebuilt Lake-town might look like. The aim was to give enough info for Loremasters to be able to guide their players through Lake-town, without being too prescriptive about individual streets and so on, which runs the risk of being too dry.
A lot of hours in this one! ArtRage and Photoshop.

Very great, this caught my eye immediately from your gallery. Excellent work. I have never tried drawing a whole city in such a small amount of space (paper). I always end up drawing too big, or running out of room to really capture the vastness a city holds. However your detail is immense all compacted within a space that at first seems small, but is truely beyond measure.

I wish I had seen this illustration when I was first reading the Hobbit years ago. Because I had the hardest time imagining what Lake-town looked like.

Ever since I first spied some previews of this imagining of Laketown... I've wanted to guide my players there, so their characters could experience the wealth of culture and prosperity after the death of Smaug. Now the streets are rife with intrigue and new dealings as the ever presence of the Shadow begins to seep into the town...

Well, Lake town hasn't actual been shown the new hobbit movie. But in the 1977 one it was.
And yes, i am. Maybe you should attempt to submit your concept for the new movie.

There have already been stills shown of Lake-town in the upcoming movies.

I don't know how you find time for it all. I take my hat off to you! Great perspective and texture. Very nicely done indeed, conveying the information in a believable way, but not overly precious, as you say. Don't want a lake town to be too dry...

Being a student of AutoCAD for a few years, I really apreciate what must have went into this! Awesome! Makes me want to learn some Photoshop.
