"Prove to them that the bats aren't monsters."Tried to get this done before new years, but oh well. This certainly qualifies as our January post so we won't need to try as hard. Nah just kidding we'll still be working hard to actually get some stuff done.

she is not a vampire, the spell turned her into a vampire-FRUITBAT-pony. if the spell was not reversed, then she would have continued to turn into a real vampire-fruitbat.
so far i have seen three differen kinds of bats in the show: normal bats, fruitbats and vampire-fruitbats (i think that lunas guards are some kind of vamponies so they donΒ΄t count. or in other words: they are ponies who look like vampires)

I like to think this is what actually happened. There's no way using the Stare on herself would've worked. But once she saw her reflection, she had an "Is that...me? What have I become?" moment, which is why she paused long enough for Twilight to reverse the spell.

That's what actually inspired the idea for this picture. An alternate title for this would have been "I need you to stand still" or something along those lines. With all the fireworks going off outside our house and the party going on, it was harder to decide what to title it.

I couldn't help but see the parallelΒ between the Mane 6's attitude towards the bats and all the hateful propaganda that took place during WW2 from the Nazis and the U.S. towards the "enemy". The U.S. may have also done it towards the Viet-Cong during The Vietnam War, I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me, if they did.

At any rate, I think the point they were making was that a certain amount of vampire fruit bats can be beneficial because the trees will naturally grow stronger in an attempt to resist being damaged by the bats' "attentions", but I agree that at that point there were too many bats anyway.

The benefits the bats provide were to reminiscent of another force of nature that has the same effect:
FIRE.
Fire destroys everything but life returns more lush than ever!
However like the bats, fire has one drawback: "Complete and Utter Devastation."

The bat's aren't monsters, they're just creatures looking for food to consume for survival.
If AJ did have her way with them, then her trees would have had to be hand planted individually each time they died.
Her farm would have been ruined again if a solution wasn't thought of, yet Fluttershy's method of getting rid of them made the most sense.

Rewiring their brains to eat whatever they eat now would have been a short term solution, while Flutter's solution was long term.

Applejack wasn't being irrational when she said the Vampire Bats would annihilate the farm while the sanctuary was being constructed.

They were both right in their own way, AJ's short term would have caused her later problems dealing with the growth of her farm and Flutter's long term would have cause issues to occur in the beginning.
Can we just agree that they were both right and wrong, both solutions solved both long and short term. Cause this little thread of ideal opinions is getting quite long lol.
