Description I entered this into e-on Software's 3D Character Rendering Contest and won 1st place. [link]
I'm so excited! It's a great honor to have won, especially since I never feel that I'm worthy of winning such things.

Per the rules, it had to be a straight-up render in Vue - no postwork whatsoever. That scared me a bit, but in a way it's good because it forced me to push Vue to render clean and crisp, without the cushion of Photoshop to clean up anything.

This is my Alanna Miran character from the Extrasolar universe created with . She's a nasty villain in the story, but you might not guess that from this image. The idea here was to create a kind of vintage sci-fi scene, and the premise was that she was part of a group taking back what they feel is rightfully their own.

All of the background objects I used in this scene were created by Ariel-X in Hexagon. I honestly couldn't have done this otherwise without his stuff, and it makes me feel that we both won. Thank you so much, BjΓΆrn for all you've given to me, most especially for your friendship! This is our win! I'm so happy that our little fun universe got some attention!

This win has been a big morale booster for me. I've got a lot on my plate with a punishing work schedule this weekend and my ailing, 14-year-old pup Scully that I may be saying goodbye to Monday.

Thanks to all my friends for the support!

Hey, thanks so much!

You may already know about this, but there are some good tutorials/vids for Vue at Geek-at-Play (most are free, but some cost a little): [link]

You have mad skills with all kinds of programs, so you'll have no problem with it. The biggest thing in Vue is getting the atmosphere and lighting right, which is not so hard to achieve. Just takes playing with. I'm still learning things in it, but if you ever need help with anything just let me know and I'll be more than happy to try. It would be an honor!

Cheers my friend!

Mate, this is very slick, would have been surprised if you didn't at least place in a rendering competition. The fact that you won speaks volumes.

Rock on, seriously! You guys have such a rich world with so many opportunities to create some fantastic artwork with the talents you both have.

Wont say much about Scully other than my thoughts are with you. Been there before, know what you are going through.... positive vibes in your direction.

Hey, thank you so much, Kane! It was a great uplifting moment for me to win that with the stress of everything. It was so much fun to create that image, so whether I won or not, it was worth it just for the thrill of it.

Thanks for the positive vibes, my friend! I need all I can get, but I'm handling things okay despite the workload on top of it all. I have to put Scully's feelings and well-being ahead of my own desire to hold on to her. She's ready to go, I think. I'll keep you posted.
