Helping Hand - ★★★✩✩✩✩✩✩✩
[ The user assists an ally by boosting the power of that ally's attack. ]
Move Description: Emery first discovered the move when he was a young Eevee watching his mother try and lift a heavy box. Wanting to help, he accidentally used it on her. When used, Emery focuses on his own strength, gathering it within himself. Emery then claps his hands together a few times to gather the energy into his palms, then place both hands on the move's recipient to transfer the energy into them. This energy is stored in the recipient's body until it is released into whatever move they use next, powering the move up. The longer they wait to use a move, the less powerful the boost is. This is because the boost's power gradually fades over the course of ten minutes before the boost is completely gone from the recipient's body. Helping Hand takes Emery's own physical energy to transfer it to his ally, so each time he uses it, Emery becomes more and more fatigued. He can collapse and become unable to move if he uses it in excess.

Move Description: Emery's most powerful move, discovered when he first stood up to his father. When used, Emery presses his pointer and middle finger to one temple and concentrates, gathering up his psychic energy. He then points both fingers at his intended target and a wave of psychic energy blasts out from his hand. This blast pushes back whatever it's directed at, be it an object or a Pokemon. It may also cause the Pokemon on the recieving end to become dizzy for a short period of time. Emery's practiced this move the most, and it's become his best move as a result. However, Emery's head starts to ache after it's used, and the pain increases each time it's used. If used more than three times within a few hours, the mental toll causes Emery to black out and then wake up some hours later with a splitting headache and blurry vision.

Move Description: Emery discovered this move when he was idly throwing paper planes in his apartment when his power was out. Imagine his surprise when one of the planes ended up being a shining star that promplty thudded against the wall in front of him before disappearing. Because he discovered the move fairly recently, Emery hasn't had much time to practice it. This makes it unpredictable, causing it to sometimes work and sometimes cause absolutely nothing to happen. When it does cooperate, it's accuracy is unparalleled. However, it's power leaves much to be desired. Emery hopes that he'll eventually get to where he can summon star projectiles whenever he needs them. If more than three are summoned, Emery's head starts to ache and it's less likely for all the starts to hit their target. If overused, he gets a horrible migraine and flashing balls of light appear in his vision.

At first glance, Emery seems like the quiet nerdy kid that would sit in the back of the class and read books under his desk. Polite, quiet, and clever, he's that one person you don't notice much in the room. His book smarts combined with the fact that's he's a hard worker has Emery tackle all mental tasks with gusto and a great deal of success. He won't openly brag about it, but he can solve an average Sudoku within ten minutes. Emery always enjoys having a mental task to work on, especially if it's one he's interested in. He gets very passionate and excited about a task if it grabs his interest. Unfortunately, Emery can sometimes get too engrossed in a task. This results in him doing things like staying up until the crack of dawn farming mobs in an MMO, or forgetting to take lunch at work during a particularly interesting bit of coding.
One thing Emery is especially passionate about is helping others. He has a very caring, generous heart, and he loves to take care of other people in any way, shape, or form. It fills him with warmth when he's thanked or puts a smile on someone's face. He loves this feeling, and the bonus of getting praised and feeling needed isn't bad either. That being said, he can be pushy sometimes, insisting that he help even when the person says they don't need it. He'll give into their refusal eventually, but they have to insist several times that they don't need any assistance before Emery gives up. Pokemon should always be prepared for a lot of "are you sure"s when refusing Emery's help. Despite the fact that he loves caring for others, Emery himself greatly dislikes recieving help. He's very stubborn when it comes to this, seeing gifts as hand-outs and offers to help as pity. Just like how it takes a good deal of persistence to get Emery to not help someone, it also takes quite a lot of tenacity to get Emery to accept help.
While he's always willing to help someone in need, he's very cautious when interacting on an more personal level with strangers. He will never show more than that initial shell of quiet politeness towards those he doesn't know. Emery will offer strangers a polite greeting and smile when ordering a coffee or helping someone find the subway, but trying to get him to open up past that when he's only known you for a few days is like trying to open a sealed vault when you don't know the combination. But there's a lot of brightness under that initial shell. He's cheerful, passionate, and kind around his friends. He's just very slow to trust others due to being hurt in the past. But once he's warmed up to someone, they'll have very sweet and gentle friend. He would do almost anything for his friends, from letting them cry on his shoulder to even protecting them from outside forces. Tremble and despair, all ye who dare threaten those who are close to him. He's got psychic powers and he's not afraid to use 'em!
However, if his friends maliciously insult Emery or physically hurt him in any way, they will lose a great amount of his trust. He will return to being more closed off to them, and he'll hesitate to protect them as much as before they betrayed him. Unless they apoligize to him within a few days of hurting his heart, he will continue to be quieter and less cheerful around them, fearing that they're going to hurt him more. If they do wrong him a second time, he'll cut of ties with them immediately, not wanting to risk being hurt a third time. He will never be friends again with those who he's cut out of his heart, and he'll become absolutely silent around them if he's not able to avoid them.
While he's usually confident that he's a good, talented person with much to offer, there are times when his confidence is wavered by that tiny, annoying voice in the back of his mind telling him that he's a terrible, useless person. This is the result of all the verbal abuse he took from his father during most of his life. While he's gotten good at ignoring the tiny voice, it still plagues him every day. He can get depressed if the voice is fueled by things like harsh insults from others or large personal failures, but his friends are always able to snap him out of it with love and encouragement. They've helped teach him to ignore the tiny voice more and more over the years, something he's endlessly grateful for. Since he's unused to compliments due to the abuse he endured from his father and the resulting tiny voice, he gets very blushy and flustered when given them. If showered with them, he'll hide his bright red face in his hands as muffled "thank you"s slip through his fingers.

Emery was born to a kind mother and an abusive father. He is a quiet, cautious boy due to the verbal abuse his father bombards him with while physically and verbally abusing Emery's mother. Emery has no friends until his high school gives all their students laptops, and Emery discovers hobbies and friendship online. He becomes very close to one online friend, and opens up to her about his abuse at home. She emphasizes how wrong it is for his father to abuse him like that, and explains that he's her best friend in the whole world and a wonderful person. Her friendship touches Emery's heart and he evolves into an Espeon. Fueled by his best friend's words, Emery finally stands up to his father and uses his new psychic move, Confusion, to briefly defend himself as the Emboar attacks him. His mother calls the cops while Emery takes a beating from his father, which results in his father being arrested and put in jail for domestic abuse. Emery's mother gains a sweet, gentlemanly boyfriend about a year after her ex-husband is put in jail. Emery eventually warms up to the newcomer and accepts him into their little family. The Espeon begins coming out of his shell in late high school, then goes to college for computer programming where he really blooms. Not long after graduating college, he gets a job as a programmer in Lumiose City, where he moves into a little apartment. After hearing about the incidents surrounding the move ban in Kalos, the division between those for and against moves becomes clear to Emery. He then posts his support of making moves legal again online, and he's given a mysterious email by an anonymous user with the statement: "Send your application to this email if you want to join the fight for moves. Argo Navis will be awaiting your response." He immediately sends an email to the address, wanting to help stand up for the moves that had helped him stand up against his father.

- He's a big momma's boy and gives way to her will easier than others'. He loves his mom to pieces, and she smothers him in affection in return.
- He hasn't given much thought into his orientation. He's not even sure if he's had a crush before.
- Because of his book smarts, he has excellent puzzle solving skills. This makes him the one guy everyone will go to when they're stuck on that one puzzle in those popular handheld games featuring the Pokemon with the tall hat and the short assistant.
- BFFFs with Delilah Montgomery, aka Sugar (who coined BFFFs, or "best friends fuCKIN FOREVER BITHC FSHDFDIOS", in one of their sillier online chats), a Pachirisu who also lives in Lumiose City. Cheerful, optimistic, supportive, and friendly (if a bit flighty), she's been an excellent influence on Emery over the many years that they've been friends. She's been directly responsible for his increase in confidence, willingness to trust, and general happiness. In turn, he's helped her stay focused, humble her, and support her dreams. They're endlessly grateful for each other.
- He's very self-conscious of body. It didn't help that he was teased for it during his youth. And silently judged for it now that he's older. And the fact that he eats when stressed.
- He prefers wearing unassuming, comfier clothing such as hoodies, t-shirts, and sweaters. Sugar, her endless persistence, and her fashion expertise have helped him branch out to fancier clothing such as suits and vests, although he's still uncomfortable wearing such garments in public. Sugar is still determined to get him to be fashionable, despite his protests.
- He loves to be praised, but he tries to stay as humble as he can so others don't find a reason to stop praising him and start disliking him. He'll still smile from ear to ear and glow softly with pride after getting a compliment.
- He adores his online friends. The Internet gives him a sense of anonymity, which acts like a protective barrier between his feelings and other people, so he's more comfortable with opening up to others online.
- He's quite nerdy and is incredibly fond of anime and online gaming. He'll stay up to the wee morning hours on a Saturday indulging in either.
- He loves cuddles but is a bit scared to get them. He worries a little that he'll get squished like a very round green grape.
- He lives in a modest little apartment with his pet feral Litten, Roland. He loves Roland to pieces. He'll show photos on his phone of Roland being cute or handsome to anyone who asks for them. He's very respectful of Roland's space though, and he'll only take candid photos of him (no, Emery says, i will not put a slice of bread around roland's face and take a photo of him what kind of monster do you think i am sugar).
- His apartment consists of a small, sunny living room that's combined with the kitchen/dining room, plus a modest bedroom. His bedroom contains his full sized bed and, across from the foot of the bed, his desk and desktop computer. A large window overlooking Lumiose City is located off to the side. A little bedside table sits next to the right side of the bed, while located on the floor to the left side of the bed is Roland's little pet bed. Emery loves his apartment almost as much as he loves Roland. Almost.
- He really wants to send money to his mom to help support her but she won't let him. She insists he save his extra money for his future.
- His greatest fear is that he'll be all alone, ignored, with no one who loves him. That and that his dad will somehow find him and come after him.
