NAME: Jacob

LEVEL: 9. Age unknown, but he's young.

GENDER: Male

OWNER: Clarisse ( [link] )

CURRENT HISTORY:

[08/26/11] adopt524: Some time had passed, when, across the lagoon from Clarisse and Roxy, a small, roundish, scurrying thing came out of the forest. It came up to the edge of the lagoon, looking around, and then dipped into the waters just a bit. It began grooming itself, or what looked like grooming. Clarisse noticed the disturbance of the water, propping herself up to look at what had moved the normally calm waters of the lagoon. "Roxy, look over there," she whispered, pointing subtly. "I think that's a bug; I'm gonna try and catch it." Clarisse floated up, her Goldeen swimsuit's tail trailing eerily behind her in the moonlight.

[08/26/11] Maple Gunman: "Hm?" Roxy propped herself up on her shoulders as she watched Clarisse head over towards whatever it was that was cleaning itself beside the lagoon. Roxy got to her feet, slinking behind the Yamask as she approached the creature.

[08/26/11] adopt524: Clarisse took the long way around the lagoon, winding through the forest's edge to avoid spooking the bug. She didn't have her bug net with her, but luckily, the creature looked small enough for her to handle on her own. Once they were behind the creature, Clarisse motioned for Roxy to stay behind. Not that Clarisse minded, it's just-- well, footsteps made for a lot more noise than floating did. The ghost readied herself for a second, slowly picked up her swimsuit's trail, and then began making her way out to the critter.

The creature, for its part, had not yet noticed what was happening behind it. It scrubbed away at its sheel, which was gleaming in the moonlight.

Clarisse nearly crouched behind the little form of the bug. Its tail-antennae twitched a bit. And then--

"AHA! I gotcha!" Clarisse called. In the blink of an eye, she'd reached out and grabbed the little guy by its main shell, holding its back to her. It squirmed furiously in her hands, trying vainly to turn its head around to see what had happened. Noticing this, Clarisse turned the bug around. The small, segmented creature had a black belly, but its pink-and-green shell was still visible in the moonlight. "Aren't you a cutie?" Clarisse cooed.

The Venipede, for its part, just squirmed unhappily. If it could hiss, it would've.

[08/26/11] Maple Gunman: Upon seeing Clarisse capture the little critter in her hands, Roxy trotted up to her, looking at the bug Pokemon firmly grasped in her hands. "He does not look too happy." She took note of annoyed the Venipede appeared to be as placed her hands on her hips and cocked her head at the creature.

[08/26/11] adopt524: "He's cute," Clarisse said, not particularly caring, and bringing the creature in for a hug. He used Screech-- a horrible, ear-piercing sound-- but upon actually being hugged, he ceased and focused upon squirming again. His multiple feet pushed off of Clarisse's form, straining to get away from what he thought was a predator. But since the Screech had stopped, Clarisse wasn't going to let go of the bug. She looked down adoringly at the critter; one of the few Pokemon that was smaller than her. "I think I'm gonna keep him," she said through giggles; the Venipede's feet were tickling her a bit. His antennae were laid flat-back in annoyance, though Clarisse was a mite too entranced by the small pinkness of the bug to care much.

(...)

As Roxy left, Clarisse took her own leave, floating happily up to her house on the cliff. "I wonder what I should name you?" she wondered aloud, as, slowly, the Venipede gave up struggling. He looked up impassionately at the Ghost Pokemon holding him as she spoke. And she looked down. "Are you a Joshua?" she asked.

No reply.

"A Jacob?"

The Venipede stared at her for a bit. "Vennnnipede," he replied, unamusedly. But it was the first sound he'd made, other than the Screech.

"Jacob it is then," Clarisse said, looking up to find that they'd gotten quite close to her abode. "See that?" she said, holding Jacob with one arm while pointing with the other. "That's my house," she said. "It isn't very furnished yet, but it's mine. Ours, I guess."

The newly-christened Jacob looked at the small home. It was, at best, charming; for most it would have been small. But for Clarisse and Jacob, it was a decent size; it loomed in the tiny bug's vision. "Ven?" it questioned, unbelievingly.

"Yup," Clarisse said, floating up to the door, and opening up. She hadn't been lying earlier: there was the customary box, candle and radio; and then a single, beat-up couch in the main room. She placed Jacob down. "I've actually saved up quite a bit, I should probably go and order some stuff from Nook," she mused. "I can get a bed for you, too, Jacob."

The Venipede's antennae flickered questioningly at the ground and the air in the house; a few moments passed while he stood there and Clarisse thought about upgrading.

And then, suddenly, Jacob began scurrying around the room; every nook and corner and bump in the wall simply MUST be explored. Clarisse floated up a little higher, so he could find everything. "Veni veni veni pede, pede veni pede, pede venipede, veni veni pede," he began, uttering long strings of nonsense as he scrutinized.

After a while, Clarisse sat down on the couch to watch, and Jacob's frantic movements became calmer and more methodical. He ended by crawling into a corner, spinning around like a multi-legged cat before settling down.

"That's it?" Clarisse asked. "There's still the attic." The bug's antennae flickered curiously, but warily. "C'mon, I'l show you." She floated over and picked Jacob up again-- a process which he did not like, but at least he wasn't using Screech anymore-- and then went upstairs.

"Here we are," Clarisse said, placing the bug down again, as his feet stretched for the ground. As soon as he found traction, he was off again, exploring the bedroom Clarisse had furnished a little more. The bedroom itself was cozy; there was a warm, round rug on the maple flooring, and the small window tucked beneath the house's eave was currently covered with bright, sunny-looking curtain. There was Clarisse's bed and a bookcase, with only a couple books; and then there was a wardrobe and a small drawer.

Clarisse slipped on her nightgown, taking her now-dried swimsuit off from underneath. That done, she hopped onto the bed to watch Jacob finish his explorations.

By the time Jacob was finished, Clarisse had already fallen asleep. The bug looked questioningly at her gently-breathing form; wasn't the black thing going to bother him any more? Peering up, as much as he could, he found her eyes closed. He quickly plopped back to the ground-- trying to be tall was a lot of effort. He crawled over to the staircase, hoping to climb down, but it looked... intimidating. So, he went under the bed--a cozy, dark little place-- and curled up to find the realm of dreams himself.

OTHER:
Jacob is extremely aggressive toward threats, but as young as he is, he's not really all that good at battling. Right now, 'aggressive' means using Screech.
Jacob is a bit of a runt. He stands at 1'00" whereas most Venipede are 1'04".
Current Moveset:
--- Screech

Haha, I think Jacob would not enjoy such an encounter.

Eeeeh, Neon's a shiny Scolipede. They're almost from one species.

I know.

Scolipede are 8 feet tall-- Jacob's barely one; he's not one to like Pokemon larger than him.

In Pokemon Crossing stuff's different. Neon there is about half as tall as Shia, his master. I plan on lightly letting him grow in size, for he's still really young, but Jacob's not that much smaller than him. And imagine when, and if, Jacob will evolve.

Eh, I'm using Pokemon heights for my artistic interpretation. Things work out funnier that way. Like Clarisse and Judas, for example.

Lol, indeed. But, the size matter is possibly left to our imaginations anyway.
