FULL VIEW!!!!
Finch, my Harpy/Angel character, running and flying through a field of dandelions, as the seeds fly off into the sky.I felt in the mood to draw something cute, so, I thought, why not try out a "chibi"ish style?
Messed up proportions are really fun! XD I decided to not care about anatomy, but instead try to get across the idea of motion (by using a slanted horizon line, actiony pose, and a background that shows how the motion is affecting it). A fun exercise!Plus, I've never drawn a completed picture of just Finch before, so it was fun to experiment with the character I created
. Plus, he's just SO cute xD.Anyway, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The background gave me trouble, but after a few complete redos (with some help from various cloud tutorials on dA C: ), I think I'm pretty satisfied. I've realized that drawing grass is....not a strength of mine XD, but oh well. And special thanks to *ZombifiedWolf for helping me out when I was having difficulty XD
.Time spent: 5-6 hrs?
Tools used: pencil-doodled scanned sketch, linearted and colored in PS CS2

Awesome skewed angle you went for here-- you definitely emphasized the kinetics of landing, and makes the scene so much "realer" than had you chosen to approach this from a flat perspective. His tail's neat, and I also like the chains across his pants, too
Oh, and I laughed at the halo for some reason. Just because it perfectly circled that wisp of hair or something? I don't know

I don't think I've ever seen you do chibi art before, Kali. The proportions are okay, but for a chibi, his nearer (left?) arm is kinda thin. o.O The colors enhance the chibiness, well done. The motion is well conveyed, but I personally think the floating dandelion seeds should be fuzzier. They look sharp rather than fluffy. o.O;

The best part about this artwork is the motion--you really got that point across! And even though you say you had some trouble with the clouds, I think they're a real strength in this piece. I also love the clouds on Finch's jacket.

I have to say it... those pants are sexy times ten and a half.
I've always loved how well you draw wings, and the clouds are so nicely drawn. ^^
But compared to everything else, the grass looks much too airbrush-y to look like it fits in the picture. x3;;

Yeah, I completely agree with you on the grass XD;. I drew it at a very low opacity, and it shows. The first time I drew it, it was as sharp as Finch is, but it looked REALLY messy XD. So, I decided that I'd rather have it be airbrushy than to be messy 8D. Oh well, I might change it in the future....but I need to practice grass more, that's for sure! XD
