I've been promising ~mariealice a drawing of Rue for years, finally got around to it
...also, I heart afros... and I know it was a bit crude leaving the spear in, but most of you know how much of a gore fan I am ...couldn't help myself, on both accounts!Gouache and Prismacolor pencils

Okay, so when I first saw this illustration, I hadn't read the hunger games and I thought that Rue was the one who killed the girl lying in the field. So my initial thought was "What kind of sick child...?" But then I read the books and was introduced to Rue and automatically thought of this drawing. So while I as reading I kept expecting Rue to turn on Katniss and go on like a batshit crazy murder spree.

This is such an old comment lol but I think what I meant to say is I'm glad there are a lot more people who DID picture her as black. I know there are a lot of people who argue she isn't so I think what I meant to say was I'm glad there's not only a FEW who do picture her as such. I've always pictured her like this.
