thanks for the thoughtful advice! I've been gradually moving away from blending however, as I enjoy the rougher more painterly look. It really depends on the drawing I'm doing I suppose

Oh yeah, it totally depends on the look you're going for! Personally i like the skin to be super-dee-dooper soft looking, so I blend it like crazy!

Having drawn this identical picture I find it quite interesting how different our pictures came out! You've created a wonderful rendition of it, I love the detail you put into the braids, I had a really hard time on that. I'd say my only critique is that some of your shading is a bit rough. One more layer of blending would smooth that all out
