Full illustration commission done for Smokepaw and Utunu! Utunu (African Wild Dog) has traveled a long way from Africa to meet with his long time friend Smokepaw (Wolf) in the Rocky Mountains to trade a few special items. The day is crisp and clear, as autumn is setting in with turning aspens bright among the pine covered slopes. Just like Colorado is right now in fact! I used my own photographs from hikes in the past as reference for this setting. I also made a nice little still life with my own fox and springbok pelts for the small pile of traded items in the foreground. It's not often I get to paint my home turf for a commission, the rockies are so gorgeous this time of year.WIP shots can be found here - eskiworks.tumblr.com/post/6359…

I really like your colorisation ! I just want to ask you if you use a brush or not for the details work, like fur. (I've seen your wips but I can't help myself I want to be sure because I'm a beginner with colorisation)

Wow. That picture has so much depth. Fantastic. The poses are well done and their salutation is full of happiness. You can see that in their eyes. The background is stunning. So much love for detail. An awesome piece.

Very cute. How I wish I was part of that native culture back then. Free from societies corporate greed living a world full of spirits and dreams and conquering fears with such courage and bravery.
Searching out for visions and just striving to survive with high spirits like all creatures upon this earth. We are all one and the same both humans and creatures alike!
