Description Put this up just 'cuz we saw it a bobcat in a tree near our home!! Had been hearing cats caterwauling so my daughter and I went out looking with the big flashlight to make sure it wasn't a neighbor's cat in trouble with any of the other local wildlife...saw eyes reflecting and then saw the bobcat!! Sure blends with the trees

My daughter had the camera so I let her put up the best shot

the sounds were so distressing! but it was gone in the morning and there was no blood or fur so we're opting for "romance"

Gorgeous! I'd love to have such a kitty in my garden, too!

I keeping thinking that I wish he/she'd hang around a bit more in the daylight - I'd love to be able to get some more photos but in reality with us having chickens and two house cats (though I know bobcats only go after house cats when they're reaaaaaallly hungry and there are way too many gophers around for it to be that!), it is probably best that they're only around at night when everybody else is locked up safe

Wow! Really neat shot Ruth. I've only seen one of these in the wild.... they are not around my area, it was out in the western part of my state.

We have a few of them around - or at least we've seen one occasionally - I'd rather see evidence of the bobcat than of the mountain lion I'm told do pass through...I've been lucky to see these darling kitties in several places in California, but the best was one morning on my driveway: [link]

I just looked up where you are...I'm surprised that you don't have them...maybe too much competition.

Hi Ruth, we have them in Mass. , just that they are west of me by about 30 miles. I live only 18 miles from Boston, and it's kinda crowded around here for the cats to live.I do have my fair share of everything else except bears and moose.I would love to have them here!

ah, that makes sense... I know bear lived "near" where I lived in southern California and are probably here in northern CA too, but moose only ever saw those in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons not what I'd think of as a "neighborhood" critter...unlike the mule deer here!

I'm showing my age

They are beautiful cats! We have one or two (?) that pass through occasionally, but they blend so well with the usually brown grass that I'm sure they're around much more often than we see!! We only saw this one because of the yowling that the two! cats were doing hard to tell if it was love or a "get outta here!!"

Here's another series I caught of one going up my driveway [link] the tree where this one was is about 30 feet down hill from here...
