Description
This is Sanosuke from Rurouni Kenshin. I'm working on CGing it at the moment, but I wanted to post the lineart to give a bit of a preview. This should have been done long ago, and I'm ashamed that it's already February, and this isn't done yet, because it's my best friend's Xmas/bday present. She is a raving Sanosuke fangirl.
As is probably obvious, I'm trying to do this in a more realistic style than usual. I'm also trying to make the coloring more 'painterly'... we'll see if I'm successful or not... *tries to look optomistic*
Incidentally, one of may favorite things about this is that he actually looks Japanese to me. Which I'm proud of, because I've never managed it before. Yup, cheap thrills.

I'm really impressed with this. You got him to look quite Japanese, IMO. I also absolutely love his expression. Look forward to seeing this one in color!

Oh me gosh!!! I have only seen 5-6 episodes but I fell for the series!! (got my brother coming home today with loads of new mangas, among them I think Kenshin, Immortal Rain and Saiyuki XD)
Anyways, I love this pose and the lines! It's amazing! You caught Sanosuke perfectly in your own style, but still showing 'him'. He does indeed look japanese, realistically too.
Can hardly wait to see it colored ^__^

Aw, thanks. I was kinda concerend that t wouldn't look enough like Sano. Kenshin is such a great series. Honestly, it surprises me that I haven't done more art of Kenshin himself... I am such a fangirl... And yay for new manga!! So glad you got those series, they are ALL awesome.

IF I liked it?! I love Kenshin, Saiyuki and Immortal Rain (oh dear, must get more!!!). Immortal Rain had both a quite catching story and very well done art, I'm loving it.
And it looks like Sano, in his expression though more realistic perhaps. More 'japanese' over your picture, yet it's him...
