I've always had an obsession with fairy tales, and this idea of twisting them and re-imagining them now that I'm older.
This piece was to play on that idea of the darkness really, how something so innocent, like the iconic Red Hood can symbolise something so much deeper and darker than what we once saw and understood as kids.

EDIT : I can't believe it... I got a daily deviation oh my gosh. Thank you so so so so much I still can't believe it!! I've always looked up to those artists with DD's all over the place, purely because they're absolutely talented. So getting a DD myself is just....

Overall this is nice. It is one of the few pics I have made a favorite thus far.
You asked for a critique however... The face looks blocky and flat. With the flow of the hood it appears more so. Add more shadows to the upper head area and hairline to give it a more 3d appearance. Also, the neck is.... also off. Lack of detail or the shadows are throwing it off somehow. I dunno if this is what you were going for like other posters have stated.
You have talent. I look forward to seeing more of your works in the future.

First off, I'd like to say that this is absolutely beautiful, wonderful techniques you implemented into it. Placing the hood with the background is actually really cool, it makes the picture seem all the more griddy. Her face goes into a completely different direction. Smooth, innocent and very lovely, the whole idea and visual of the symbolized red hood is practically bursting off of the canvas.
The ONLY thing that's getting to me would be her hair, it's a little strange looking and a bit too strange looking, but if that's what you were going for I can see why.

This is just fabulous. I love the flat graphic nature of the piece contrasted with the dimensionality of the face. I'm also a sucker for wide screen composition and the position of the face and the flowing red are just perfect. Nice expression on the face. I like the contrast between the angular shapes of the face and the flowing curves.
OK, since this is a critique I feel obligated to say some negative things even though they might be minor:
Not sure if the dripping blood and the flowing hood connect enough geometrically. The two elements might be fighting each other too much rather than connecting, which I think is what you are going for. Not sure what you could do to resolve this.
It might be nice if the eyes picked up a little color from the background or some other color to contrast with the red and make them more dynamic. They are a bit lost in the dark.
Overall though this piece is stunning.

when I first saw this peace it made me think of an older version red riding hood. I really like how the hood has an abstract kind of look to it,almost like it turns to smoke,or as if it got shredded and the wind is blowing it. I like how the hood surrounds her. For the girl I like the fact that you made her eyes red, and you got the shading in the face spot on. what i don't like about this peace is that the hair looks a little blue green to me, if you changed the shade of blonde it would look better.

This, this is amazing. You took a classic icon, that was already shrouded in media and false accusations, and made it into a beautiful image. One that doesn't show the horrors but shows the people who witness this a brand new light of hope. Because now they don't have to worry about anymore media. More like a person of beauty to look up to. And the work itself is marvelous.
