Description Here is my entry for ~KatanaWolf 's contest [link] . Entries are of her character Kanashimi, a shy and refined kitsune lady. She is the sister of *frisket17 's Sutra, and I was thinking of her as well when I designed the kimono with butterflies.

I've never drawn a kitsune before, so she definitely was tricky. I think I most enjoyed working on the obi. I had a tough time with the kimono, however. I started with a lavender color for the base, and it just didn't look right, so I switched it to a darker blue. The wind pattern is very difficult to color by trackball (but it isn't easy with colored pencil, either).

I'm pretty happy with it, overall. I experimented with my coloring style again, and this one has a better integrated mix of gradient fills and smudge finger-painting. I really need to use the brushes more

Pigma Micron 005 pen to ink and Photoshop 7 to color. I'm not sure how many hours... 20 maybe? I was rushing for the original end of August deadline, but when :katanawolf: extended the deadline I slowed down and worked much more carefully.

Absolutely gorgeous. I LOVE the obi! Such a gorgeous design of the kimono as a whole o.o
I'm jealous. One thing I'm horrid at is designing gorgeous kimonos. You make it look so easy!

Thank you. I'm really happy I finally decided on a blue instead of a lavender base for the kimono. It works much better with the rest of the colors.

Hehe, I'm happy that my recent work is well-received I'm really pleased with the colors as well. Once I figured out the base color for the kimono, I was set. I'm really glad I didn't stick with the lavender I started with. It just didn't have the right inpact.

Thank you. I really like working with butterflies, and they've been sneaking back into my work lately. A lot of my newest sketches have butterfly based patterns

Thank you. I'm very happy with her expression. This started as a fairly quick sketch, but she had such a nice smile that I wanted to finish it.

After the positive responses to Kimono Style I and II, I've wanted to draw more kimono, but my standard characters wouldn't typically wear them. I liked having an excuse to design another nice kimono pattern.

Thank you. There are some very nice entries and lots of different styles represented, so I'm not sure who might win. I'm pleased with my entry, though. We'll just have to see what happens
