The planet Dakusakuro, located in between the Carina and Crux Arms in the Tardsead system, is the average mass homeworld of the Ekosin. The star it orbits is a fairy low mass G type that has moved off the main sequence and has began inflate into a red giant. Consequently, the planet Dakusakuor, once safely in the middle of the habitable zone has began to heat up significantly- once a green garden world, it is now a barley habitable hothouse with average temperatures of 76 Celsius with a dense atmosphere and a mostly desolate rocky surface.
Most life has been rendered extinct, with the surviving organisms having for the most part taken refuge within the planet's underground cave system, which are quite extensive. The basis of the shadow ecosystem is now a highly resilient fungus like lifeform that has infested nearly every nook and cranny on the planet, being extremely adaptive and able to feed from nearly anything- in the underground, it feeds of off chemicals and heat from geothermal vents, while on the surface it has taken a similar role to photosynthetic plants, even forming some small forest like outgrows in the cooler ares at the poles, though with the sunlight being blocked by a near constant mist and vapor from the boiling seas, the vast majority of the planet's surface remains a desolate desert.
The native insect-like ekosin have adapted to feed of off the fungus, forming large socialist communities that have eventually achieved interstellar travel and have mostly left the homeworld, though a small population still remains- mostly for sentimental reasons. Because of the nature of the ekosin way of life, their government, the Ekosin Commonality, dose not have any real leadership or capital- however, the Senate, the institution mostly responsible with drafting referendums for people to vote on and take emergency actions for the protection of the people resides within the city on Kinakal, the largest and most influential city in ekosin history.
