A large, habitable world in the Scutum-Crux Arm of the Milky Way, in between the Garician worlds and the core Groth powers, Qayrilia orbits the star Krimrat, a G type star of similar mass and age to the Sun, but significantly dimmer (less than half). Qayrilia's obit places it square in the habitable zone of Krimrat, at 0.48 AU or 72 million kilometers, talking about 136 days to complete (or about 31.5 local days, with a 104 hour long rotation). Qayrilia is orbited by one fairy large moon, Mitirilni, which exerts quite a bit of tidal stress on the planet.
At 19,358 km in diameter, Qayrilia is about three quarters as dense as Earth, giving it a low mass for its size of just under two times and a half. Because of the large moon exerting tidal stress on the planet's interior as well as its own internal heat, Qayrilia is quite geologically active, with periodic large volcanic eruptions. However, these volcanoes are almost exclusively shield volcanoes located in the oceans, the planet having a distinctive lack of large mountain ranges. Instead, Qayrilia' landmasses, comprised of three continents, are fairy flat and dominated by large expanses of salt flats and gray rocky deserts.
Because of the periodic eruptions spewing large amounts of carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide into the dense atmosphere, Qayrilia is subjected to an intense greenhouse effect, with high temperatures year round and a dry environment that sees very little rain.
The dominant lifeform of Qayrilia are the sapient Libertix, a hardy species that developed around small city states and distinguished itself by their small scale wars between roaming warbands of dominant males. Eventually, these cities banned together, as much as their tribalistic nature can allow, to form the Libertix Hierarchy, which has grown into a veritable interstellar power.
The largest city on the planet, Vagozurin, is the Hierarchy's main base, holding the command center for its fleets and the governmental building. At the hearth of the the city is the Central Spaceport, which has grown over the years to be one of the largest ground based spaceport in the galaxy, a necessity to accommodate the large influx of trade goods passing through between the Garician worlds and the Groth central powers.
