6 ft tall drawing for the first project in my Adv. Drawing class
Materials:
Canson 140 lb watercolor paper, black india ink, payne's grey (bluish black) acrylic, charcoal, and soft pastel.

This project has undergone a drastic transformation since I began working on it. The pose is from a well known (to some extent) painting of St. Michael, and originally it was a dragon (also from another peice of classical art) that he was slaying, but my teacher encouraged me to go a little bit further with it and have the figure killing himself. At the very least the composition was a lot more dynamic because of those changes.

I got the inspiration for this idea (modern combined with historic) from an artist named Kehinde Wiley, and I got the process from Jakub Kujawa's (he's on deviantart) "happiness tax" here: fav.me/d48qzp3 ---if you take a look at this peice also check out the youtube video, that's exactly where I got the idea to do some ink/acrylic washes with pastel layered over, it's very inspirational.
