Childhood
Worm was born in Airedale to Henry and Clara Onastring on January 1st as Ava. And as their first and only child they did coddle them quite a bit as most first time parents do. Their parents would buy their little applin the prettiest dresses and bows they could afford to show how much they thought loved them and how they pretty they thought they were. And at a young age, they would try to teach worm how to cook, bake and clean through toys and just having them help their mother around the house. And as much as they thought the way they needed to treat their child, it wasn't healthy for Worm. Worm wasn't allowed to explore who they wanted to be at home.
But even at a very young age, they weren't comfortable being Ava. They didn't feel comfortable wearing their dresses or only doing the usual "Female things" their parents wanted them to do. Outside of the house and in school, they were Worm who didn't care if they got their knees scraped by running around in the dirt or if they would scratch their pretty slippers on the playground.
They were happy being Worm.
And for a year or so this went on, at school they would allow themselves be who they were and at home they'd wait until the next day, until they decided to confess to their parents. They didn't take it well. They thought Worm coming home with scratches and messy hair was just a phase that they would grow out of, just a moment of rebellion. They didn't think there was anything more to it.
And after they talked to worm and tried to convince them to be the way they wanted them to be, trying to tell themselves something was wrong with their child, they kicked Worm out.
But their grandmothers caught wind of what happened, understandably furious that they did this to their own child, they took Worm in. After making their way over Worm was taken to their apple farm in Tincaster and Worm was able to be who they were though the only downside of moving in with their grandparents was the fact they did have to wake up early and help around.
And when Worm was accustomed to being in a new home, their life became pretty normal. They went to their new school, made a few friends and caused a little bit trouble here and there.
Disaster
It was like any other day, Worm woke up at 7 am sharp, went out to tend to the apples and make they wouldn't dry up in the hot dry sun, went back inside for breakfast, try to get ready for school in under 5 minutes.
But that morning as the family finished up their meal and were just about to head out, the sky grew dark with heavy rainclouds and the earth began to shake. They quickly made their way into the basement to wait out out the disaster and for what felt like forever they were cooped up down there as the earth above them was shaken and destroyed with meteors and heavy rainfall.
And finally, when everything started to settle down, they went up to the surface to see what had happened.
Their farm was destroyed, their house was burnt to a crisp and barely any trees were left standing after the barrage of natural disasters they had to face. All the money and time they had spent building on their farm to keep it running had been gone just like that.
They wouldn't be able to rebuild, they were old and their farm brought enough money to keep them comfortable but not enough to build a new home and replant acres worth of beautiful apple trees.
Post-Disaster
And though it did break their grandmother's hearts to leave their home behind, they had to move to Everstone. It was safer and a little more affordable than living in the city after the disaster.
Feeling bad that the fact that their whole livelihood had been destroyed because of they couldn't control, Worm did pick up a little bit of a criminal streak because they weren't old enough to actually work. It was nothing too horrible, they would sneak into Miss. Wendy's garden for a few tomatoes or snatch a few small plants from Old man J's front yard to sell to some poor mom who can't resist a sad face.
They did get quite a bit of money from this but nearly not enough to help their grandparents.
That's when their attention was brought on over towards the guild, it was dangerous work but the reward would be worth it. If they saved up their money from going into dungeons and not to mention what might come after the guild when they're reserved as heros, they would have WAY more than enough to start up another farm for their grandma's.
And they waited until their birthday, sitting outside on the guild hill until the second that clock struck 12.
Got told they had a few more days.
But as soon as the applications opened up they RAN in like their life depended on it, pen in hand and determination in their head.
