First, Download the newest version which is 1.75... [link] Second, Just run DBM.htm and it should load in your web browser. From there you can open a file and get all the neccessary info for what you need to change to get a certain aspect ratio. Then you goto your favorite photo editor and make the background or "canvas" the same dimensions that Deviant bordermaker gave you. I do have a walkthrough guide included in the zip download, or you can check out [link]

Clcik the Download to desktop button. Then unzip it. Run the file DBM.htm Follow the steps. Deviant Bordermaker will give you numbers which you need to plug in yourself to your favorite graphics app. Enjoy and let me know if you run into anymore difficulties.

Thanks for your quick reply. I tried to download it, but for some reasons my computer turns it into a Microsoft Word file, and everything gets messed up, is there any way I can fix this? Sorry, but thanks again for your time and help

kingkool6 In reply to evanesces [2005-04-29 17:26:08 +0000 UTC]

Some things to try...

1. Open up the folder where Deviant Bordermaker is saved. If it is on the desktop just create a new folder and place Deviant Bordermaker in that folder. On the top, click on Tools-> Folder Options. Click on the "View" tab. Under the advanced settings there should be a list of check boxes. Find the one that says "Hide Extensions For Known File Types". Uncheck that box. Now you should be able to see the extensions of the file. Does Deviantbordermaker have a zip extension? If not, change it to a zip extension and then try to open it.

2. If you can unzip it ok and when you double click on DBM.htm Microsoft word opens, it could be from the file association type. Simply right click and select "open With". Then select a web browser. Or just drag DBM.htm to any web browser and drop it in the window or address bar and it should open up the file.

Glad to help. Hope you get everything running. If you still have problems let me know exactly what it is you are doing.

Hmm so you still haven't figured out how to unzip the files? If all else fails, I can send you the individual files. You really only need two html files, the rest is help files with graphics. Let me know if you are still having problems. sorry for the delay, but i have beena little busy lately.

Btw, I'd love if the preview ppeared in the same window just as shown in your preview up there The writign etc doesn't have to be all that huge afetrall and we just wanna check the "look" of it, so scaling it really small in the same window as where we chagne the numbers and ratio is good

kingkool6 In reply to micdt [2005-04-22 20:30:00 +0000 UTC]

PARF was a big inspiration for the preview part of Deviant Bordermaker. I was excited when I found PARF. But it took me an hour or so to get it up and running and even then it didn't work right. So I improved upon the idea. Let me know if you have any other suggestions or feedback.

micdt In reply to kingkool6 [2005-04-22 22:07:56 +0000 UTC]

the first version was a bit clumsy to install indeed. the last jar-version should work out of the box. anyway, your bordermaker is it. PARF was a good exercise for my son in programming java and that's about it no worries

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kingkool6 In reply to micdt [2005-04-23 06:15:30 +0000 UTC]

I used this as a chance to practice some javascripting and to address a big problem. I hope your son continues to develop PARF more.

micdt In reply to kingkool6 [2005-04-23 09:22:26 +0000 UTC]

not sure. probably not. your bordermaker does the job even better.

that means prints with more negative space?

kingkool6 In reply to Swaroop [2005-04-22 20:27:39 +0000 UTC]

Borders are a good use of space. Lots of prints here on DA are bordered. It's a great way to add some professionalism to your work. Let me know if you have any other suggestions or feedback.

Haha. You will still need a program to actually add borders to the image. Deviant Bordermaker just does calculations and gives a preview of what it will look like. Let me know if you have any other suggestions or feedback.

Nah. I don't think I'd charge for it. That would create more headaches than it's worth. Besides, I'm a believer in free open source software, for the good of the community. Let me know if you have any other suggestions or feedback.
