my limits 3 too all of my boys are feeders i got cuz i couldnt stand to see them become food jacoby my oldest is a year and a half i got 2 younger males hopeing he'll be able to have friends since trying with males his own age his whole life didnt go well

It usually works out okay.
If not, a neuter usually help, if you haven´t already done that?
I haven´t had any difficult intros so far tho..
It´s illegal to feed live rats here luckily..
I will never buy a pet store rat again.. Just lost one of mine at only 14 months due to bad breeding

i'm REALLY scared to neuter my boy i've talked to vets about it but i've heard so many storys of it going wrong

I have neutered three boys(which means all except one)
And I´ve never had one single problem with it..
If you have a good vet, it usually is no problem at all..
Of course there is a risk to every surgery, but if I(personally) had a rat that didn´t go along with other rats, I´d have him neutered.

i trust my vet she takes care of all 3 of my dogs and 4 cats plus jacobys skin issue i've been thinkin about it cuz i heard it made them not mark as much i'm just worried something will go wrong since jacobys almost 2 years old

One of my rats were neutered when he was two years old and it went perfectly well
I go to an exotics vet..
The ones that knows dogs or cats, usually don´t have a clue about rats sadly
I hope it´s different with you tho..
I went to a dog/cat vet(that claimed to know rats), and she spent half an hour finding out that they had lice(which I already knew), another fifteen minutes to find the medication, and fifteen minutes to find the dosage..
Needless to say, I was not impressed..

my vets good with small animals she used to be an exotic vet but when she moved here she couldnt find a job so she works at my local vet now shes treated my mice and rats and my pit bull who was more than a handful lol

I know how much of a handful a doberman is, so I can only guess how "bad" a pit is
As long as the rat is healthy, age shouldn´t be a problem tho..

he's got a check up next week when i take my pit for her shots which should be fun lol
my rat LOVES my dogs o.O is that weird? his best friend is my 2 year old husky shepherd mix she loves him back its cute they play lol my pit likes him too but i wont let her near him anymore after i saw her kill a bunny

Mine don´t care much about the dog..
But I don´t let them near eachother either, after hearing about several cases of dogs accidentally killing the rat
I personally don´t think species should be allowed near eachother unless under CLOSE supervision(like the rat sitting in my hands and the dog sniffing them with another person being close enough to hold the dog..)

my dog is NEVER aloud near them use the rat is in my hand i would never risk jacoby gettin hurt even tho id bet my life laika (the husky cross) wouldnt hurt him shes helped raise kittens before too i just dont think itd b smart to let them be too close or alone together my dogs are very gental extreamly well trained and i still dont trust any of them with my boy

my uncle gave it to me once his rat passed my lil boys are in a much smaller cage atm but there so small i think there okay for the time being

Then you can get a critter nation cage.
It costs, but it´s value for the money(it´s pretty much identical to my cage).
I do not know where it´s cheapest, but you can ask at rat shack.

Yes, it´s made by midwest.
You also have the Ferret nation, but it has bigger bar spacing.. Critter nation(known as CN on the forum) is probably more practical.
You can also split the cage in two(if you get the double). Very practical during intros and such
I have a royal suite 95 double, and that is pretty much the european version of a CN.
I like that better than the CN(better quality), but I do not know if it exists in America.

Which of them?
I have heard that the savic cage is better quality tho.. And the edges around it makes it better for bedding.. You can´t really use bedding in a CN..
They are absolutely HUGE

Mine is ecstatic every time I even clean the cage, so you can imagine how they were when they got it
The cage I had before were pretty much the same size tho, just crappy quality and long instead of tall..
When I got that cage, my boys were afraid to move, because they didn´t know what to do with all the extra space

thats how jacoby was when he got his new cage hes a lil chucky so i wanted something hed have to move alot to get his food which i keep on the way top

I keep the food on the bottom, otherwise they would never go down there

hes got a house and a bed at the bottom so he never leaves the bottom! his waters there too now hes got a bed or hammock on all 3 levels and food/treats/toys at the top
