This started as a small doodle to warm up my hands in parallel to the big mermaid picture, but eventually took on a life of its own.
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed drawing it!

Actually I cleaned the white background in Photoshop - I find it almost impossible to scan white areas without them turning lightly greyish and textured.

I love when a drawing surprises you when you start working on it, it's a really satisfying feeling! This came out beautifully! I especially love that tiny touch of orange near her waist, it just does something wonderful for the entire image!

That's so true and has been happening to me a LOT lately! A little portrait will morph itself into a magical fairy queen or a couple of mermaids and I get really excited and can't stop

A very beautiful piece! I really like the composition and the contrast of round,curvy lines and some that are more edgy. The colours are also very beautiful, I always like the combination of blue and brown a lot, here it looks really frosty in some way. The way she sits there against the tree and looks kind of in the distance, and the vague background make me curious if there's something she might be looking at, and it makes the picture even more interesting. Great work!
