tldr;

Yuuki is an Easy-going person who seeks nothing but to better his own life experiences as well as others. He is not afraid to volunteer and speak his mind. He enjoys teasing his friends, especially underclassmen - though he has the tendency to overdo this and cause hurt feelings. Because of this he can be seen as a person who plays a little to Roughly with others.

As easy-going as he seems, he is actually quick tempered and rash. Often acting on impulse/emotion and desire and thus ends up in troublesome situations.

Yuuki is very passionate about his cooking, and maybe a little too passionate. Because of this he usually comes off as a rude or unkind person. Being very competetive in the culinary field, it doesn't matter if the person he is competing with doesn't care or isn't aware of him, he just sees everyone as a rival. I guess you could say you can see the worst of him in any type of culinary environment that involves professional establishments or employment. His sportsmanship in this area is very poor, and he can be very aggressive. If given a menu at a restaurant he will read everything and scrutinize the ingredients being used and the preparer. However, in all of the part-time jobs he's been working in, he takes everything seriously and works hard to work to the employer and customer's expectations.

When confronted with a problem he tries his best to stay away and tends to be avoiding. Generally someone who turns around and leaves a door unanswered when someone unexpected knocks. This is the same for when he is given any major opportunity. Thus the type who never moves; his life is a frustrating standstill.

Biography:

Yuuki grew up like a hardy root in Koshu. There he lived in a modest two-bedroom house with his small family of 4, consisting of his fraternal twin sister Yuka, and his hard working parents. Life in Koshu came with much hardships, as Yuuki was pretty much the runt of the pack of the other country boys in the neighborhood. His stature was tiny compared to the other boys, and because of this, he was pretty much ostracized from many of the games they played. It was around this time that he picked up cooking from one of his childhood friend's older sibling.

During his youth, Yuuki grew up really wanting to play baseball. Since the other boys refused to play with him and his family lacked the money to buy the sports equipment, the son resorted to other means to replace them. He only began actively looking for sports equipment after he managed to stumble upon a baseball behind the fence of the middle school. He took this baseball and broke off a branch from the neighbor's tree to use as a bat. (after getting scolded heavily of course) After this, he began practicing alone in their small backyard, building up his upper body strength from swinging an overly large branch as a bat.

It was in his middle-school days that he became entirely fed up with how ostracized he felt from the other boys. He was always last choice despite his abilities, only because of his appearance. He began going home early, and by the first year of highschool he had a built build. It didn't help that he had a growth spurt that shot him up like a bean stalk either.

Family

Sakurai Mariko: His hardworking 45-year old mother. She is quite the gossiper and works as a resale store clerk. She is the source of constant nagging.
Sakurai Atsushi: His chill old man, 5 years older than his mother and a Japanese teacher at the middle school. He encourages Yuuki's cooking and enjoys the fresh life in Koshu.
Sakurai Yuko: His dear other half. They are fraternal twins and get along despite their differences. He'll try his best, always if his sister is around. He's fairly protective of her.

Childhood friends

Chinatsu Kouya: Played with her and her brother as a kid, had a
mild crush on her sister growing up, accidentally confessed to
Chinatsu instead of Kanae. Admires her brother, took up cooking
after eating his food. Dubs her "China-girl"

Kanae Kouya: Chinatsu's older sister, Yuuki's childhood crush.
He is highly avoidant of her now.

Ryuutarou Kouya: Chinatsu's older brother. Oldest of the Kouya
siblings. Yuuki really looks up to him as a kid. He was the one
who inspired Yuuki to take up cooking. Calls him "Ryuu-nii"
like Chinatsu.

Katsuhiro Sano: One of his closest friends, he - Chinatsu and
Yuuki were an inseperable trio. Due to some misunderstandings
he was incredibly betrayed by Yuuki for awhile until explained.
He enjoys playing sports with Katsu and gives him the nickname
"Katsudon"

Kisaburo Omuro: Played together often.

Shun Yanagi: Played together often

Natsuhiko Otou: Tokyo-rocker wannabe friend. The boke to
Yuuki's tsukkomi vibe. He wants to go live it up in Tokyo.
Mama's boy. Always dragging Yuuki out to places with him. He is
someone Yuuki trusts deeply. Calls him "Natsu."

Hinata Ohno: Girly childhood friend, was mistooken as a female
when younger but Yuuki never bought it and was always confused
as to why hinata was always included and forced to play in
teaparties. "Hinata won't play with you Yuuki! Hinata's going
to play house with us!" Met him when he hit a baseball over
Hinata's fence and tried scaling it to retrieve the ball.

Rina Honda: At first they did not get along well at all. They
would fight over the most trivial things, after an incident in
the woods they bonded, though still not as close as one would
like. She cooks as well, and is one of Yuuki's rivals, often
competing with her during club sessions.

Tatsuya: Played basketball with him growing up, They are
cooking rivals as well, one of Yuuki's closest friends. If he's
not helping at the Ryokan or if its not one of the Ryokan's
busiest seasons Yuuki often part times at Tatsuya's family's
Sushi Restaurant.
