Description "Anders" may not be a name they came up with themself, but as replacements for their birth name go, it may as well be that. They got the name for being a person from the Anderfels, and that can mean a person of any gender, or of none as it were.

I miss Anders, too. But they're happy and safe with my Hawke somewhere, so I'm not too sad if they never show up in a DA game again.
About Pounce I console myself with the fact that his not being in DA2 was only due to limited development time, so I can headcanon Anders never lost him, or that they at least were eventually reunited.
