Pfffft, extremely conservative people be like:

Fetus/Embryo/Any and every zygote in existence= MUST BE BORN NO MATTER WHAT!!

Hungry, illiterate, and seriously ill child living in extreme poverty who has had their food stamps, access to medicine, and educational programs cut= Lol, you expect us to pay for kids we didn't make? Tough luck bruh!

But seriously, thank you so much for this. This is stone-cold truth!

I guess it's just too much effort for them to extend empathy to real children who are facing real challenges.

Sad but true, it's like they prefer quantity of lives over quality of said lives once kids are born :L

These people talk about child adoption as though it's as easy as adopting a friggin' PUPPY. There's a reason why a lot of couples go to other countries to adopt — it's a hell of a lot easier!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kotego In reply to KrisCynical [2014-12-18 22:43:13 +0000 UTC]

They also treat giving up a child for adoption so casually as well.

LadyLambdadelta In reply to Kotego [2017-11-02 14:31:27 +0000 UTC]

And what's wrong with giving a child up for adoption? If I ever had a baby I'd give it up without a second thought.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

KrisCynical In reply to Kotego [2014-12-20 09:17:11 +0000 UTC]

Yes, and then there's the small detail of nine months of pregnancy and giving birth before adoption even comes into the picture.

People just need to stop sticking their noses in the business of strangers — ESPECIALLY sexual and reproductive business — to try and control the way the strangers live so it is "acceptable". Just live your own lives and leave everyone else alone!

quixoticala In reply to Ramen27 [2015-10-13 00:59:00 +0000 UTC]

1.) Some are raped.
2.) Some are uneducated.
3.) Contraceptives don't always work.

If they take away somebody's rights to pregnancy, they'd take care of the child afterward. If they can't afford to do so, they can shut their fucking mouth.

Kotego In reply to Ramen27 [2011-12-01 00:07:51 +0000 UTC]

They made it their business, that's why.

[...]irresponsible idiots who had an unwanted kid.

Because there's never any abortions as a result of rape, medical complications, or simply because the condom broke.

Ramen27 In reply to tsubasacorrupted [2011-11-30 22:26:08 +0000 UTC]

True dat, but let's face facts here. Most people are just damn irresponsible. And stupid. Birth control fails ~4% of the time. Irresponsibility and stupidity fail 100% of the time.

All I'm sayin' is, if you were stupid and irresponsible about sex, stop trying to pass off the responsibility of your mistakes to someone else.

RaeSM [2011-11-28 03:56:11 +0000 UTC]

I disagree with this, and here is why.
Isn't it OK to point out a wrong, even if you do not provide the solution? Is it wrong to speak out against wife beating, yet not open your home to battered women? Was it OK for people to say that slavery was wrong, yet not open their homes to slaves? Are we allowed to speak up against child abuse, yet not bring in abused children into our houses?
This makes no sense.
This argument is simply a way to shift attention from the real issue: whether this is a real, living, human being who is being killed.

Also, Pro-lifers ARE helping out! There are thousands of pro-life help-giving centers. There are many many crisis pregnancy centers. There are abortion alternative centers that offer free pregnancy tests, free counseling, free material and human resources to pregnant women! Some people DO open up their homes to women who are pregnant. There are single-mother support groups that help mothers. There are people who adopt handicapped or "unwanted" children. Everyone reading this should do their research and see exactly how much pro-life help is given to women in need and their children.

ScrewfaceRomeo In reply to RaeSM [2011-11-30 15:25:45 +0000 UTC]

Isnt it odd how so called Pro-Lifers tend to support the DEATH penalty? Or the WAR in Iraq? Face it, it's not life you support, but your right to chose who lives or dies.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RaeSM In reply to ScrewfaceRomeo [2011-11-30 16:21:56 +0000 UTC]

Not all pro-lifers are for the death penalty, and not all of them support the war in Iraq, either. Those are two differnt debates with a whole different range of issues.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

quixoticala In reply to RaeSM [2015-10-13 01:00:41 +0000 UTC]

pro-lifers don't exist. it's pro-fetus, in technicality.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RaeSM In reply to quixoticala [2015-10-20 17:43:46 +0000 UTC]

Not true. A true pro-lifer is pro-child andpro-woman. A pro-lifer should respect all life from conception until natural death. A pro-lifer wants the best for the woman and child--we want to help them both. We don't believe that you should deliberately harm or kill one of them in order to try and help the other. When a woman is pregnant, there are two human beings, two people, present. We believe that both should be treated with dignity, love, respect, and care. Not just one or the other.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

quixoticala In reply to RaeSM [2015-11-25 01:22:04 +0000 UTC]

well, yes, but the sane pro-lifers are the minority of the group.
i've met numerous women who claim to be pro-life, but then refuse to fund anything for the child after birth,
yet they bitch about others not keeping their fetuses.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RaeSM In reply to quixoticala [2015-11-30 16:42:51 +0000 UTC]

I would disagree that the sane pro-lifers are the minority.

When you say they "refuse" what do you mean exactly? Do they make excuses as to why they do not help women in crisis pregnancies or something? Or don't donate to crisis pregnancy centers? Or are they saying something like, "I won't help/fund/etc. any children in need after they are born"? I just want to know exactly what you mean. I know there are a lot of organizations and groups who DO help women out after their children are born, where people can donate baby items and such, or help a mother put her child up for adoption if she feels she is not ready to be a parent. There are many people who help women in tough situations. Even my church does a fundraiser every year where they collect donations for mothers in need. People care. Everyone should help needy parents and children.

Are there some who don't care enough or do enough? Sure. That's in any group. But the true pro-lifer will care and try to help. There are better options than abortion, where we can help both mother and child. Pro-life means to be for all life. To cherish, respect, and value the life of every human being. Period.
