I drew this about a year and a half to two years ago but never got around to inking and coloring it so it sat on my HD for quite a while, unfinished. In the last few weeks I picked it back up and worked on it little by little between life, jobs, and commissions. I finally finished it a couple nights ago and let it sit to see if I had missed anything, and I decided today that it was suitable to post as my last piece of 2010.
This image takes place post-manga under the notion that Kagome wouldn't wear the miko clothing all the time and would thus sometimes wear normal peasant clothing when not required for miko duties. In this image she and Inuyasha are laying out in the grass with a camp fire, stargazing.

I've probably posted the least this year since I first joined dA almost 7 years ago. After coming out of such a bad year in 2009 and being greeted to 2010 with my late sister dying, I wasn't in the best place physically and emotionally for a large chunk of the year. It was an odd contrast; 2010 wasn't great for me emotionally, but it was a fantastic year for my career with the video game and children's book. Here's hoping 2011 will be a good year for me in BOTH areas and that it will be a good year for all of you as well.

This is beautiful! I love the serenity in their eyes, and I agree with you on 2010... I remember the journal entries of loss you posted. I lost a member of the family who was considered the best out of all of us in the family, and the rest of the year was emotionally taxing for me. I am right there about hoping this year will be much better all around

I really enjoy the idea of Kagome being a "part-time" miko, instead of just stepping into Kikyo's shoes in yet some other aspect. So, the idea of these two taking a break from their roles/duties in the village to just enjoy one another and the night's sky is refreshing and wonderful
Here's hoping your 2011 is better than 2010 in all the ways that matter!

I love the picture, but I have a quick question, why do people always draw Kagome with blue eyes? In the anime her eyes are brown, I'm just confused by this.

In the manga they're grayish blue. I go by manga first for my canon references, not the anime.

They fluctuate from gray to grayish-blue, but they're never brown. It's a little easier to see on the hard copies of the images and art books.

I have no idea, but I've gotten the eye color question from several other people over the last few years besides you. They changed her socks, too, which seems kind of weird unless it was just for ease of animating. (If you didn't notice they're scrunchy at the ankles in the manga but tight knee-high socks in the anime.) Did you know her three friends didn't have names in the manga, either? Takahashi drew their heads in speech bubbles when they were referred to!
