This was done with the permission of the very sweet, ~HappyFaerieDance whose photos I have fallen in love with. She strikes such great fae poses! She has given me permission to faerie-fy and of her pictures and this is the first one. I used the pose from this picture:The horse pose came from who has a wonderful group of horse shots.
Please let me know what you think. This is a water color and ink on 9x14 heavy watercolor paper. The alicorn, hooves, and headband are painted with metalic gold japanese caligraphy ink. There is also silver metalic caligraphy ink in the faerie's robes.
I used Gimp to try and restore the colors after the camera killed them. Overall I'm happy with it.
I will more than likely sell the original, as I don't have a place to keep it.

I love how the background is detailed and complete, but subtle. The colors are THERE but does not compete with the subject, the STAR, of the picture. It SETS UP the main subject really well. The paint is blended and shaded really well. There is tremendous improvement over the last year or so, with this artist. Really cool painting!

Thanks so much, Kay! It's always nice to know what's done right, rather than just what's not. This one was so much fun to paint. I have decided I LOVE inking watercolors after the painting is done. I just really like the crispness it adds.
