The first thing i see in this is an epic machine ( i realise that it is a musical instrument). The design of these types of instrument is so complex looking and old. i love that you have shot it in black and white, it gives a vintage feel to the piece; in fact it even looks like it could be taken a long time ago.
I think the degree of focus works well with the linearity of the instrument, the "keys" are in great focus which is what you have tried to capture and this draws you way from the complicated stuff in the bottom.
The angle and the tilt that it is on looks great too. it think it adds more dimension and keeps the shaddows to the unfocussed areas and the light where you need it.

as im not a photographer im not sure how much help ill be but i know what i like and i really like this i think the contrast is wonderful and the detail i like how it fades out going further back znd down the bottom its one of those works that make me wish to toch the objct inside of it to feel the cool smoothness of the metal run my fingers down the intricate pieces which to me makes a successfull picture
though i might like to see what it would look like with out the black and white maybe with some coloured lights to shine off the metal might look interesting but this is an opinion not a critique as i like it just the way it is

I concur with this critique and absolutely LOVE this photo. I'm very much a fan of "machinery" as depicted in photography and art and this photo certainly sparks the imagination with its surreal atmosphere. Nicely done!

thats what i thought really fun but still interenting to tell the truth i see it in my head with either green and purple or orange and blue lights
and im glad it might help kick the lazy muse lol

Pretty cool~! I love the focus and the way you filled up the whole screen, it looks like some strange machinery :3 The b&w really brings out the contrast tooo~

Cool! You have an open key flute? Mine doesn't have the open key holes~ It's a nice picture. Reminds of those ones on the intstruction books.
